Okay guys so i swapped from my delta 272 cam back to stock and did a valve adjustment. I left the balance shaft belt off. Now i have a miss in the engine and its very rough to start and when the engine is under a load (accelerating) it sounds like the valves are chattering but they are within spec and they are quiet when at idle and reving. only under acceleration do i get the noise. Help!!! could the timing belt be loose or off a tooth??

Sounds like the issue, Pinking on acceleration and rough running.
Check the timing.

okay i double checked my valves they are all in spec. but will the engine run if the cam gear is one tooth off?? i have a feeling that might be it... the arrow on the cam gear is pointing straight up TDC on #1 cyl. and the dizzy is pointing a little below the #1 terminal on the distributor..

So is it recommended that you adjust the valves after you swap a cam? I put an A6 in mine and didn't adjust the valves.“Speed has never killed anyone. Suddenly becoming stationary, that's what gets you.”
