    Dead starter after engine swap

So a month ago I had my engine swapped. Well everything went well until it came time to start it. My fuel injector rings were shot so gas went everywhere but that's not what I'm worried about since those were promptly replaced. Now my battery may have a low charge but it provided power to everything and all my lights work and have full brightness and everything. It's just when you go to start it, nothing happens. No sound or anything from the starter. It's completely silent but my electronics aren't dying when I go to start the car.

Is it my starter or my starter relay? Could it be my battery just having a low voltage?

Check fuses, and check to make sure starter has power with a volt meter. Also if its manual then the clutch pedal switch could be the issue.

Charge the battery and see if it starts.

When my starter went bit made one click. My battery has gone out before and all the electronics worked.

Since it hasn't been driven since the swap are all the wires connected.

The battery should be at 12.6ish volts if it's in the 11 or 10 range it may be bad. Or just need a charge from sitting for a month

My bet is on the battery

Yea my starter isn't clicking at all. All the wires are connected though. I had the battery slow charged and autozone told me it was bad. I have a quick charger at home but my battery doesn't charge past 10.5volts. So it could just be the battery which my mechanic also stated.

I just don't want to buy a new starter and it not be that.

Do you have all your grounds grounded? My swap did the same thing two days ago, and I realized I missed the ground under the thermostat housing, after that everything ran like normal. Hope this helps.

I'll check the ground wires then. I'm not sure if my mechanic missed one or not but since you had the same problem this actually gives me hope that it's something as simple as a wire that's not connected.

I have another car in the driveway with a brand new battery so I could just use that one to test also.

Haven't made it back to Dallas yet, but I spoke to my mechanic and he said he would check the grounds again but it is probably my battery. Also after the swap my passenger side window stopped working. It's like the motor and regulator stopped working, but the lock on that door still has power.

I never even thought that could be a problem, I have to replace the speaker on that door since it sounds like it's falling apart whenever I play music so I'll check the wires once I replace that speaker.
