    Shifting problems

I have been having problems with my automatic transmission lately. It doesn't do it all the time. Sometimes it will shift just fine, usually when the engine is nice and cold (but not always) other time I have to just barely put my foot on the gas pedal and yet other times even that doesn't get it to shift. Tuesday (September 9th) after having gone through some really hard rain and large puddles of water because they nearly covered the entire road, it acted as if it was in neutral when it was in fact still in D4. I put it into neutral and then back into D4 and after a a long hesitation, it finally shifted back into gear and I haven't had it do that again since.

I have checked codes on both ECU and TCU and the codes are as follows:
    ECU: 7-TPS
    ----12-EGR
    ----15-VSS (speed sensor)

    TCU: 1-Lock up Solenoid A
    -----2-Lock up Solenoid B
    -----3-TPS
    -----7-Shift Solenoid A
    -----8-Shift Solenoid B

so anyway, the father of the baby my mom takes care of overnight said that, he thinks it is the RPM sensor (all I see is a VSS....is it the same thing?) That part is over 100 dollars but I would rather it be that over the shift solenoids because those are over 300 dollars new and obviously my used ones, didn't last long if that is the case. I would want new this time around.

I don't know if any of these are related in such a way to cause the shifting problems that I am having. I would think that if it was the clutches inside, that it wouldn't be such a odd intermitten problem that I am having. I would think that if it wasn't going to shift, it just wouldn't shift.

Any advice would be great, thank you.

Does this happen when the air is real humid or after a rain? I had similar problems and traced it back to water incursion.

EDIT: just re-read the post. I'm thinking you need to inspect the electrical fittings for the VSS and both solenoids as well as the temp sensor. Do you ever have water in the drivers cab on the passenger side? After cleaning and inspecting the electrical connections use a good amount of dielectric grease and re-assemble the plugs.

No worries, I know this is common for anyone who has had a failed TCU and did the typical diagnostics of checking plugs and stuff. I know from experience that if you don't fix the problem it will take out another TCU as well if it continues to happen.

            Never ending transmission problem.

            ECU codes the same 7, 12, 15
            TCU codes same plus 2: 1, 2, 7, 8, 14, 15. Only have 1st and 2nd if shifting manually.
I doubt I'll get assistance on a holiday weekend but I need help a before Tuesday.

"Code 14 is the FAS wire. This is the communication wire between the ECU and TCU. Check the wiring harness between the ECU and TCU is undamaged."
Is this an accurate description of the code 14?!?

I guess I'll have to wait until Tuesday for an answer.
