Currently I have a manual transmission from a 99 Accord installed in my car. The speed sensor plug is identical to the one on my harness, but the car doesn't register a speed. I'm not sure if the speed sensor isn't compatible or if it's a bad speed sensor. Also I tried to swap in my M2S4 speed sensor that I know works but it wouldn't sit in the housing all the way (I think the pitch of the speed sensor gear is different). Ihave an h22 and vtec also doesn't work, I assume because i don't have a working speed sensor. Any help?

If your odometer or cruise control work, then the problem is not your speed sensor.
You don't have to change both the power steering speed sensor (the part that actually mounts to and interfaces with the transmission); you can replace just the electrical part of the speed sensor on top of the power steering speed sensor. If you can get test leads onto the wires somewhere in the harness or at the plug for the gage cluster (you'll need a wiring diagram to identify the right pins), you should see an alternating 0 - 5 - 0 - 5 ... volt signal.90 LX 4dr 5 spd 396,014 (sold 1/1/2022) - MRT: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=201450

I didn't check to see if the odometer was working and cruise control is long gone. In 99 the speed sensor is all one part; the top isn't removable like older sensors. There is what looks like a clip that holds the shaft (?) in the speed sensor housings if both sensors. Are the shafts interchangeable? Basically I had an M2S4 in the car and the speedometer worked, but the transmission was bad, so I swapped it out for a 99 transmission and the only thing different was the speed sensor. I don't know if the pins are the same from sensor to sensor but I don't see why they would change the configuration. Usually one outside is power, one is ground and the center is usually the signal. Usually.

I did a little more hunting around and I figured a way around it. Originally I tried to use the speed sensor from my M2S4 bit it didn't fit into the transmission all the way. Looking at the speed sensor side by side earlier today I found out that the 99 speed sensor had more teeth on the pickup gear so I just swapped out the gears and it fell in place. Now the speedometer works fine.
All I have to do now is figure out why vtec isn't working, but that's another thread.

Glad you figured it out and were able to resolve the situation.90 LX 4dr 5 spd 396,014 (sold 1/1/2022) - MRT: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=201450

This is kinda unimportant, but you could install a smartphone speedometer app, and compare that to your modified setup to check for accuracyOriginally posted by deevergoteAdditionally, it makes me feel good to call someone a cunt if they don't say "thank you".
So no matter what, I win. Selfish reasons.
