    Cooling fan jump vs. relay?

Was able to spend more time checking out the 93 SE parts car I bought and I noticed that the a/c cooling fan is jumped vs. having the relay. So, the fan comes on all the time whether it's turned on or not from inside the car. Is there a reason for that other than not having a relay so just rigging it?

possible overheating or it could have kept blowing the relays? only things i could come up with besides not having money to go buy one

Thanks for the input. Considering how things are rigged on this car, it is definitely believable that it was just due to not having a relay.

The cooling fan does not come on in my dd SE, but the compressor doesn't come on, either. We did take the relay out of my dd and replace it with the jump from the parts SE, and the cooling fan did come on. So, we at least know the fan works, but the compressor still does not come on.

The compressor won't come on unless there is some minimum pressure of freon in the system. To check the compressor clutch, you can jump the pressure switch on the AC pipes just behind the left headlight.

When I had a tune up about 2-3 months ago, I had them check the freon (R13 since the car's been converted) level as I was curious if it had leaked out, and they said that it was full. Is the clutch related to the amount of freon?

If it is "full" then there should be enough pressure in the system to close the pressure switch, which should allow the compressor clutch to engage (assuming everything else is OK). If you remove the connector, and jump the connections, and the compressor clutch engages when AC is turned on, then maybe the pressure switch is bad.
