    Transmission issues or something else??

Sorry for the long post, but wanted to include as much info as possible.

Car is 1993 Honda Accord SE--fully stock, original engine and transmission. 333+/- miles

    Symptoms:

*D4 light is not on. All other lights on the display are working
*Sometimes will not go in reverse immediately. If I pull forward slightly, and then put it in reverse, it will then work. More often than not, it will go in reverse immediately
*It hesitates from a stop and pretty much just sits there and barely moves. After about 2-3 seconds, it accelerates normally and accelerates fine when going at a higher speed.
*Noticed oil under distributor, but there was no oil in distributor cap but there was some on spark plug wires and plugs themselves
*Drives smooth for about 10 minutes and then it kind of feels like it “shifts down” and then starts to feel like it's missing. It does that for the rest of the drive and is worse between50-70mph. Car runs fine at an idle—no roughness at all.
*Check engine light came on. If reading codes correctly, it's codes 20, electric load distributor and 43, fuel supply system. The only other light that flashes is the ABS light. No flashing for the TCU, but not sure if the D4 light being off is symptomatic or if it's just a burnt LED.

    What I've done:
*Replaced ELD from another 93 SE as well as ECM/TCU (donor car has 285K miles) Donor was purchased as a parts car and towed it home, so no idea how it drove on the highway. Was running when we bought it.
    *changed out spark plugs
*had whole distributor assembly changed at the dealer
*replaced 02 sensor, and put on whole new exhaust (old one was rusted out with holes)
*bottle of fuel injector tx in 1 gas tank (have filled up 3-4X since then)
    *new fuel filter
    *transmission flush with Honda ATF
    *clean EGR valve

    Results:
    *CEL is no longer on
*only code 20 (or 2?) is flashing (video link is here :http://s21.photobucket.com/user/Spac...9ikgi.mp4.html
    *no more oil under distributor
*car no longer sounds like a Harley

Nothing else has changed. Any ideas on where to go from here?

I know you changed the filter, but have you verified that the fuel pressure is correct at the driver end of the rail? Did you clean only the EGR valve or the passages as well? Does the D4 light come on when the selector is in that position? Check for play or looseness in the shift cable both at the shifter and where is attaches to the transmission (there is a small cover held on by 4 - I think - bolts).

Have not verified the fuel pressure, and only the EGR valve was cleaned. D4 light does not come on at all, even when the selector is in that position. All of the other lights do work (P, N, D1, etc.) Have not checked the cables.

Thanks for giving some other possibilities to look into. Would love it to be something else besides the transmission.

I honestly can't remember if looked at that. Will have to check.

Was able to verify that we did not change the TPS out. We removed what we thought was the TPS from the donor car, but when we compared it to pictures, it did not look the same. We haven't gone back to re-look so thanks for the reminder to check that.

You're welcome I had some major issues that kept me looking at the physical transmission and tcu, I went thru every step to figure it out and ignored the tps because it was fairly new, after exhausting all options I threw a 40$ dorman tps at her and all is well now. My symptoms were bucking almost like a misfire, but after driving it a while acting up I found a spot in the swing of the accelerator that replicated the problem on a consistent basis.

Were you able to get the problem resolved? Was it the TPS sensor that Illinois_erik suggested? I know you mentioned you were going to check it out.

Sorry if this was resolved elsewhere I am just getting back into the forum.

Thanks for following up. I did purchase a new TPS sensor, but then chickened out when researching on how to replace it. It seemed more complex than our skill level, and we don't have the money to pay someone to do it right now, so she is just sitting and waiting now

That is a repair that I have not tackled. Would love to learn how to replace it because I want to learn everything I can about this car.

Hope you get it fixed. I know I would not be lucky enough to let it sit. My neighbors would call the township to have it towed out.

In our township if it does not move in 12 days they can tow you out. Even if you are legally licensed, insured, inspected and registered with the state of PA.

One of my biggest fears it that I'll mess something up and make things worse. Then I would have to pay to have the car towed somewhere to get fixed and then be out even more money.

I am very lucky in that we don't have to worry about sitting cars. We have 2.5 acres and are surrounded by pasture and some woods even though we're technically located in town. The car does stay parked in a garage, so it's not an eyesore for anyone. However, I"m sure the neighbors do think we're a bit weird since we have 3 geneva green SEs (one is a parts car) and a 91 silver SE

The TPS isn't hard to replace. It's the adjustment that has to be done after replacement that can be a bit tricky if you aren't familiar with how to use a multimeter.
