    Odd Idle problem

    Here's what happens:

When I start my car it has always idled fine... anywhere from 1500-2krpm as soon as I start it depending on the time of year.

If I start going on my way a couple minutes after I start it I will have idle issues. When the temp gadge just starts to move is when it'll start idleing crappy. As soon as I let off the gas to stop for a light or stop sign the idle will drop to around 300rpm or so and the car comes very close to stalling (sometimes it has). When it's completely warmed up and I let off the gas it'll idle fine right where it should at ~800rpm. If I let it completely warm up on it's own it will idle fine.

What do you guys make of this?

Last tuneup was about 4k miles ago. just replaced the dizzy a month ago.
I was thinking it *might* be the IACV. but I don't have a spare one to check with

*edit* this has been a ongoing problem (for about 6 months) for a wile too just want to take care of it now that it's warm out finally

Clean the IACV, and the FIV too, just for good measure. Then bleed the coolant, since you're have problems related to being warm and such, and the coolant runs through the IACV and has an effect on it. Then reset your ECU and if it doesn't idle at/around 800-900 adjust the idle screw on the throttle body.

eacv also could be a source, I suggest checking idle screw...

on the stairs, she grabs my arm, says whats up,
where you been, is something wrong?
i try to just smile, and say everything’s fine.

Already cleaned out the IACV really well. but like I said in the first post it idles perfect when it's warmed up complely. the propblem is only when the temp gadge shows it's just begining to warm up till around 1/3 the way up the gadge (fully warmed up is a little above 1/3).

I again suggest bleeding the coolant, resetting the ECU and all that. What Sparkle's talking about is the FIV, which is on the TB on H22's. Winding that thing down doesn't really make a difference, do a search, there's plenty of debate.

ive had this ongoin problem for sometime now and today it just got worst i start the car it usually revs up to 1500- 2000 revs warms ups and then idle at 8500 to 9000 rpm, now whenever i select the shifter weather its reverse or drive the idle bounces up then down. moving off is another thing it sort of loose power like a flat spot ... tonight while im driving i decrease my speed the idle bounces up and fall to 3000 rpms then back to normal come to a stop and then it goes like crazy like five time up and down and of course back to normal shucks im seriously thinking of doin away with the h22 swap and just go back to my 2.0i motor any glues too this si9ncxe ive done this swap ive done nothing but fixing its coming up to a year in june and i havnt enjoyed the car much its running f**k up ...

I just realized I didn't post back my results....
After cleaning the TB and upper intake manifold and even screwing the FIV in a little still same issues. I'll keep on trouble shooting untill I nail this problem
Next thing I'm going to try out is the plug wires. They are the OE wires that are in there now. bought them brand new 8 months ago, but still worth trying out.

UKaccord92, don't give up man. your problem sounds like a fast idle valve issue.

Wow, it's weird. My car has been doing something similar: before completely warmed up it would drop to 350-400 and immediately bounce to 1000 and then bounce back down. After it's warm, it's fine. It only did it about 4 times w/ in 2-3 days, so I've been doing research on it. I just finished cleaning the TB and IACV about 1.5 hrs ago and my idle seems to be fine, but my hopes aren't up yet.

Maybe bleed the coolant like a few others said? Please keep us posted, I'm not sure what else it could be since you did clean out the IACV and TB!

I've heard some people have no problems after cleaning out the IACV. Some other people still have issues though. So I'm not ruleing out the IACV yet.
