I'm going to try to get a IACV (or getmy current one serviced) from the dealer as soon as I get the funds for it. as soon as I do that I'll let you know how that goes when I get it done

I hope that works. Last year i had that problem and every day it seemed that the car was loosing more and more power. I changed my injectors and cleaned the egr ports and problem was solved.

Ahh yes... AFAIK the EGR is something that's never been cleaned on my car. The only reason I haven't gotten to the EGR yet is the fact that it's a little too hard for me to get to with the tools I have

What injectors did you replace the stock ones with with?

I went on ebay and got myself a set of stock injectors at that time. I have a set left if you are interested. For the egr get a 12mm wrench and you should be fine. Dont try using a socket in this area cause you will strip the nuts. If you can remove the intake manifold, and clean that bitch out. You will be suprised with what is inside those egr ports. I found a really thick layer of sludge in there.

by 12mm wrench for the EGR are you guys referring to removing it from the car to be cleaned?

                  idle probs..many possible solutions

i see alot of people are having idle problems with their accords. just to remind some folks and educate others. from doing searches on the internet ive found out a few things. one being that the fast idle valve controls the idle while the car is cold and warming up. once your car warms up the idle control valve on the back of the intake manifold then assumes idle control. the fast idle valve on the 1990-1993 accord is bolted to the front of the upper portion of the intake manifold behind the fuel rail, and just under the pvc hose. on the 94-94 accord and the h22 is bolted to the bottom of the throttle body. the best troubleshooting i can think of is to check the valves for resistance and clean them. if they fall within specs then make sure coolant level is correct and that there is no air in the system. if the coolant is ok and sesnors are ok, then the next best suggestion is to check the manifold gasket, the most notorious being the gasket that sits between the upper and lower portion of the intake manifold. also be sure to check the throttle body gaskets. other possible but less likely causes include loose or worn spark plugs and wires or other faulty ignition components. also to not be forgotten is egr ports and fuel injectors being dirty and clogged or even more remote a failing fuel pressure regulator or fuel pump. i doubt this because usually if its fuel related youd have trouble starting the car. hope this provides some insight to those with any lingering questions. in the future i plan to make a web page that will hopefully further explain honda multi-port fuel injection or pgm-fi. cheers

You didnt read his inital post that well then. He said the car is losing power. The IACV and FIV wont make the car lose power. Those will only make the car idle erratically if they go bad. Ignition componets can be a possible problem but that will show up in starting more so than a bad fuel componet. For a car to lose power it only takes one bad link. That means one bad injector, spark plug, dirty egr ports, etc. The car will still start up as usual and it wont throw any check engine lights but the problem will still be there.

I been there done that last year, every day the car was more and more sluggish. I checked the resistance on everything and they were fine. I replaced my IACV and FIV and still it idled erratically. Then I pulled out the injectors, and i noticed they were covered with sludge. After seeing that I pulled off the EGR and saw that too was sludged out. So i replaced the injectors and cleaned out the ports. Problem was solved then. I am not saying that his problem is exactly my problem. I am just steering him away from what its definitely not and giving him an idea why he can be losing power.

P.S. When was the last time you did a tune up pwrusr?

Other possible causes i know: ignition rotor, clogged fuel filter

Actually the problem I have IS mostly with the idle, when I give it gas it'll be fine. well most of the time anyway

Tuneup done about 5k miles ago with NGK Vpowers.
The whole dizzy (including the cap and rotor) was replaced about 2kmiles ago.
I also replaced the fuel filter just a few weeks ago.

Now that i think about it the FIV and IACV can be responsible for your idle. But that means you have two problems. That egr is overlooked on these cars, clean that out asap. Let me know how it goes. I have a good condition FIV, IACV and injectors for the F22a. PM me if you are interested, I will let them go for a really good price. But the power robbing issue is not the FIV or IACV at all. Thats why i am telling you that it can be one faulty injector or a cruded EGR.

                          were are slowly getting it..lol

                          hey pwrusr,
is its mostly on warming up the probably could be fast idle valve. try making sure the plunger is screwed in all the way. i just bought new valves iacv and fiv from ebay. honda oem from a guy in singapore. its tec made. i have a 94 accord ex throttle body. in either case i hope you figure it out. i honeslty thinks its either fiv or you may indeed have some kind of vaccum leak. im in the process of competely rebuilding my intake manifold with new valves, gaskets, aem fuel rail, injectors, and bored tb. i also drilled out the egr ports of carbon. in either case i hope you figure it out. mine does the same thing right. like if i start my car up let it warm up the idle doesnt bounce, just warm up at 2k then comes down. but it doesnt bounce when im at a stop. now if i stop and turn off my car then say go back and start it a few minutes later then the idle bounces back and forth between 300 and 1000rpm. so i know how you feel. im also getting stainless steel exhaust, and still ahve to get the tb yet. having a budget stinks though..lol

                            Hey pwrusr,

I got another question, does the idle problem remain constant, like after the car is warmed up. And also, when you let off the gas, does the erratic idle show up when the car decelarates into the erratic idle zone? (The car will slow down really had, and then it will go a lil, just like how the idle goes up and down)

I still havent had the chance to clean the egr ports out. Been having some more pressing issues that I may have to post up about tomarrow.

No idle issues at all once it's warmed up. However, I have a bit of a power loss/bogging at higher RPMs.

You are definitely in the early stages of what happened to my F22a. I got the FIV and IACV, injectors, etc off my F22a. I let those go for a really cheap price.
