My car recently had a front end collision and i had to pull out the frame of the radiator support for it to fit. Well now that i put the radiator back in more stuff is messed up. When i start the car it keeps having a jumpy idole for 1000 to 3000. also, when we put it into drive it stays at 1500 even when i am not pushing on the gas pedal. When this happens it is very hard to brake. Is this normal or is my brakes messed up? IU need ur input cause i have to work tomorrow.

wow ....umm i was going to say maybe a sensor only because the only time i ever saw the tach go up and down was because of one of the air flow sensors or some shit like that...was a crx and i wasnt paying full attention to it....but the n problem, got me man sorry wish i had some answers for you....maybe try bleeding the system again?

I want to say it's your MAP sensor, or possibly a vacuum leak on your IM, but I don't see how a front end collision would affect that. I just did my H23 plenum swap and I had similar sounding problems (my car is a 5spd though)...my #21 vacuum line (the main MAP sensor line) is connected at the wrong place, and my car surges to 1500, and was idling all messed up before as well.
I don't see what that has to do with a radiator though; how bad was the impact? It didn't move your engine around did it?

it moved like the drivers side like half an inch back, but me and my friend still drove it back to my house...it was still a little scary cause the brakes are hard and the alighnment is messed upYeah, Preludes

No power brakes makes me believe you have a vacuum leak. One time my mom's Odyseey (with an F22A) had a surging idle. It was dark, next day popped the hood and found that somehow the PCV valve on the valve cover somehow popped out. I put it back in and all is good.Gary A.K.A. Carter

Should be a vaccum line going to the brake booster. Spray water around vaccuum hoses that you suspect are the culprit and see if you find a change in tone.

Your high idle either sounds like timing, or you need a throttle cable adjustment. One time I messed with my throttle cable, and from a dead stop if i let my foot off the gas (on an auto) it would accelerate to almost 25 mph.
As for your surging idle, make sure you're tuned up, and all of your fuses, etc. are intact. It sounds dumb, but after I wrecked my car, weird things started happening to it when it was first back on the road. After you make sure you are tuned up, if you still have problems, check out the "Rough/Surging Idle Fix" thread.

yea, mine does the same thing. when my foot was off the gas, it would accelerate to almost 30 mph. okay, i will check my fuses. I don't pull any CEL's though, so thats goodOriginally posted by wrichards2005Your high idle either sounds like timing, or you need a throttle cable adjustment. is it possible that carbon/dirt could have broken loose inside the idle control sensors on the intake? just curious. i finally got my idle surge prob fixed by (1) cleaning out all the valves that control idle,
(2) and tightening down the inside components of one of the idle air control valves.
