EXT: Red Honda Emblem for cheap

so i was messing around with my Honda emblem and figured i would make a DIY on what i did

this only works to my knowledge on the 90-91 front grills

    Tools and materials Needed
    Philip screw driver
    razor blade or scissors
    drill w/bits
thin piece of plastic, the color of your choice, (i chose red)

This will alow you to have a badge that is interchangeble with what ever color you want

    1. remove the grill by removing the 5 screws securing it

    2. then remove the 2 smaller screws holding the emblem on

    3. cut a piece of your plastic out that will fit into the back of the emblem, and drill the wholes as needed (Note it desnt have to be perfect, as long as it looks okay on the front)

---this will take a lot of trial and error---

its really cheap and easy, and almost free, i used the red plastic from a cell phone product package

but do not use paper it will get wet and go poo poo on you

    more pics to come

Why did you opt to do this vs painting? Not hating just curious.

        this is an interchangeable option

say you want a blue badge one day and a red the next

once you get that one that works made, you can use it as a template and make one in any color

the 90-91 grille emblems are hollow, there is no surface to paint...

btw, magicdragon - looks good! will hold up better than paint. An alternative might be flexible 3-ring binders - lots of colors of easily cuttable, thin plastic.

That's really interesting! So many backgrounds to choose from as long as it holds up to wear. You could even put gutter guard back there! Endless possibilities. Just a picture of the way you secured your plastic will do.

I did this a while ago when I pulled the grille to wrap it with CF vinyl. (THAT didn't work out so well. ) Mine is glow in the dark with a brown CF wrapped H.

I thought it was common knowledge that you could do it. lol

I also believed that it is customizable with logo back of the trunk .. however, its got to be more complicated! Great and useful DIY! Thanks

I did a similar thing last summer with the Mazda emblem on my 3.

I got some carbon fibre wrap and made an underlay for the emblem.

This kind of makes me want to put my grille backon and do the glow in the dark!
