one side done. took around 3 hours. it's a brushed finish with 3 coats of clear. the clear darkend it a up a little. it has a silverish look to it in low light, but then it lights up in bright light. i probably should have used a more course grit to show the brushed metal more.

hopefully the anti-rust properties of the clear i used will take care of that. i also preped the steel with acetone as suggested to remove moisture from the metal. it will probably start to rust later down the road in some years. with any luck, maybe never. they shouldn't be to hard to replace if it gets out of control. they seem to be caps that are tac welded on.
