I used to work for a place that made the new axles that O'Reilly and AZ sold, I wish I'd kept the spreadsheets and pictures so I could help pick out what axles to buy(for like $100) when people do stuff like this.

I think the axles/everything else is a turn off to me for a k-swapped cb.
If you do it, coolio man. I'll be watching for it.
My opinion;
For the money you could build a kinsler ITB'd H22. When its all said and done that is. Seems like you prefer the all motor route, so, I just think its worth pointing out you could do better for the money spent dollar for dollar.
You are doing pretty good with your f series build. Why not just double down on that? I mean, for the $650 you are talking about spending for two shitty motors that need to be rebuilt you could do alot. Add in the money it will cost to take two shitty motors and make one good one and you could build just about anything else(all options on the table at that point).
Then, once you start figuring in the actual costs of the swap, I dunno. I just dunno bout that.
Why? Dollar for dollar, why go that route? You could buy a K powered car for the money it will cost to get this done in this car. I've seen RSX type-s in the 7-8k territory. I bet you'll be looking at $4500-$6500 atleast when its all said and done.
For that money, I would really have to consider my options. Because thats a lot of money to run 12's maybe break 11.99.Last edited by toycar; 01-23-2014, 10:29 AM.Originally posted by wed3kim a douchebag to people and i don't even own a lambo. whats your point? we, douchbags, come in all sorts of shapes and colours.

Ignoring money for a second, though, doesn't the K have all-motor potential beyond what the H can push? I used to think "four cylinders is four cylinders, mod it enough (i.e. $$$) and it's all the same," but reading Honda Tuning, people are getting some crazy figures with those engines for not much change over stock. Like, 300+ whp with mods that most people are using to get their H22 to maybe 250. I'm tempted myself.

^ I know exactly what you're saying. it's not even fair to me that K's are pushing out that much power to the wheels all motor, and making it quite simple at that other than price. not hating on K's either i love those engines, they're badass. i was lookin at a K hatch with 330whp and thinking to myself that there's H-series enthusiasts dyin for power like that. even after stroking/boring the s%#$ out an H it's still a few revs away from a spun bearing.
maybe the dynos are being generous to the K trans
. i'd love to make a 300whp H and see how it stacks up to a K.

The heads and ECU's of the K's are just so much more advanced than the H, which accounts for the extra potential. They are 10 years newer and more advanced in terms of design, and use the S2000's F20C as a general basis, and that motor was designed to have the highest specific power of any motor ever built at the time it was created.
For the price of a pretty much race-only built H22 with kinsler ITB's, he could have a very streetable, nearly stock but still just-as-powerful N/A K-series that you could drive down to the store, in the cold, with your grandma in the car.

my whole thing is the k-series is easier to drive everyday with 250whp due to true variable cam timing and lift coupled with the ability to run higher compression at leaner afr's than an h22. a 250whp h22 can be driven everyday but it will consume fuel much quicker than a 250whp k24. cost for cost a 2.4L k24 is cheaper than a 2.4L h22. if it was about just slapping on kinslers and going all out, id definitely stick with the f-series. sorry but an h22 wouldnt be as fast for same money invested. a badass cam, 09' tsx pistons, budget port job and billet maxi-lite F23 crower rods and im looking at 240-250whp.
thats
budget port $150
bore block $80
tsx pistons $300
cam $800
rods $700
f23/f22a LB $150
valvesprings $200
h23 IM portd $20
skunk2 70mm $0
custom hytech
rep header $600
less than 4k running and tuned.
long story short since were
it's the k-series' ability to have better street manners at 250whp. i did find out today Drive Shaft Shop can just make me lvl 2.9 custom axles with measurement for roughly $900-$1000 so that is the last of it. i think i will end up just getting a whole tsx swap and run a stock ecu with the immobilizer adapter. that way maybe i can get it up and going for less than 6k. i dont plan on swapping without a 6spd, lol.

I agree with everything you are saying. Just a ton of money to go not that fast. I suppose I understand what you are getting at with the manors and such.
6spd is fun too. Good luck. I'll be watching

Who on this forum hasn't spent more money on mods than the car is worth? Might as well go all out imo, esp if you plan on keeping it for a long time. I find it funny that no one has posted that owns a k-swapped CB.
jdm92, you may be the only active member with a k-swap that I know on the boards. Also I can help with wiring a bit...

Do you have money? That's the question that needs to be answered here.
Going with a not very well documented swap for the cb chassis requires money or time or both.
To cut time out of the equation you need more money.
To "cut" money out of the equation costs time, and by cutting money out of the equation I mean turn it into a long term build you can't drive for a couple years or money until the money spent is unnoticeable to your wallet.
Still, the amount of money and time spent will be paramount.
The more you know the cheaper everything will be.
For Kswap info I would go straight to hybrid racing or ktuned.
For all your harness needs - I would go to rywire.
You can have a complete Kswap harness with quick disconnect and tucked for $1500-2000. In mil spec!
Motor costs around 3-5000.
So your looking at 5-7 thousand for a plug and play setup.
Now you need to calculate the costs for axles, mounts, shifter cables and etc.
So ask yourself.
Is it worth spending 10k on an old worn cb chassis?
Do you have 10k to spend?
Good luck, just letting you know full custom territory is not an easy or inexpensive task where as.
A h22 swap will cost a fraction of the cost and yield 3 times the power of the I with the unspent money on the Kswap to build the h22.
Just my 2cents but I'm just a believer of keeping the original block that came with the chassis.

I'm up for a successful Kswap as well.Originally posted by h22sparkle View PostIf he loves that car let him do it. I'd like to see where this goes plenty of times I've seen failed projects I'd actually like to see this succeed. They do it with civics, why not cb's CB's need to get their weight up too.
If someone has the equipment and money they can pioneer a kit just for the cb chassis but the scene is massly populated with civics.
And the rate of budget tuners are too high for manufacturers to invest into Kswap kits for the cb chassis.
I would like to see someone on this forum step up and create a test piece motor mounts and ask a machine shop for a groupbuy from this forum.
We all can work our way around a solder gun, flux and wire strippers.
And I know we all don't want to sacrifice ride quality for solid motor mounts everyone can make.
Function and form goes hand in hand.
If we can get a pair of quality motor mounts readily available more kswaps will rise.Last edited by MrMagnificent; 01-26-2014, 03:34 PM.

Hybrid racing sells mounts for the CB chassis.
I don't think it will be as expensive money wise as predicted in this thread. Time however is a different story. No one has fully documented this afaik. The more ppl that do the swap, the more we can simplify it and work all of the bugs out. How are we going to do that if everyone says it's too expensive and it's not worth it? How about you all donate advice (myself included) to this process instead of focusing on how much it will cost and the max hp from the swap...there are more benefits than that. We don't fully know the final costs, all this speculation is just that.

However, at $900 for axles alone, its going to cost 4-6g's when its all said and done no matter how you slice the cake. Its easily $1500 to rebuild the engine correctly and only upgrading minimal stuff.
$650 for the engine. Already over 3k and we haven't even talked about a tranny/clutch, wiring, engine management or mounts.
I for one think its way to much money for not enough go fast.
BUT, I'll help with whatever I can if accorn decides to go with it. For sure. Just like I'll offer my two cents on his turbo thread as well.
