    Motor Oil Thread

I figured I would start up a thread dealing with what brands, weights and results people are getting from various different oils under differing circumstances. Thinking about using a format as well (moderators edit as you please) for ease of organization and reading. I may edit the initial post with averaged results if this catches on.

    Format:
    Motor:
    Oil Brand:
    Oil Weight:
Usage: (Daily driver, occasional track day, full race car, etc.)
Additive: (Lucas oil stabilizer, Liqui Molly Ceratec, None, etc.)
    Filter:
    Review:

Guess we will see how this goes.

    Motor: F22A1 built head
    Oil Brand: Castrol GTX
    Oil Weight: 5W-30
    Usage: occasional track day only
Additive: Used to add Zmax before the trip to the track, but regular oil changes might make this unneccessary
Review: No complaints whatsoever. This stuff does not leak where synthetics would (and have) in my application.

I think we should add an Oil Filter category: Wix Permium 51334

      Motor: '96 Honda F22B2
      Oil Brand: AMSOil Signature Series
      Oil Weight: 5w30 100% Synthetic
      Usage: Daily driver
      Additive: N/A
      Filter: K&N PS-1004
Review: Love the stuff, a bit on the expensive side but it does stay cleaner than cheap off the shelf stuff. I always did a filter only change @ 3000 miles.

      Motor: '01 Ford Zetec (2.0)
      Oil Brand: /Weight:
      Break in: Castrol SAE 30HD
      Running: AMSOil 5w20 Synth
Usage: Daily driver, occasional track day/hard driving
      Additive: N/A
Filter: K&N PS-2009 (Quaker State for brake in)
Review: Same as with the Accord engine as far as the AMSOil goes. The Castrol was used for break in. Ran if for 500m and did a filter change. Then broke her in good and hard. Tore the engine down after 70k and there was barely a mark on the cam lobes or journals no sludge or varnish buildup inside the block. Love the SAE30HD, just not good for cold weather.

Edited to add the filter category.

        Motor: H22A
        Oil Brand: Mobil1 Full Synthetic
        Oil Weight: 5W-30
        Usage: Hard daily driving
Additive: Lucas full synthetic oil stabilizer
        Filter: Purolator Gold
        Review:
So far I've been alright with this combination. Usually use 4 quarts oil and one quart additive. I change my oil and filter every 3000 miles but it doesn't come out quite as clean as I would expect. I ran Castrol full synthetic one oil change and it was the only time i had ever had to to off my oil before my change interval so I went back to Mobil1. Thinking about changing to a higher quality oil such as Liqui Moly or AMSOIL and ditching the additive.

          Motor: F22a6
          Oil brand: Royal Purple Synthetic
Oil weight: 10w40 it was on sale for $1-3 a quart so I got like 20.
Usage: Daily driven, and sees high revs regularly.
          Additive: None
          Filter: Bosch
Review: Excellent oil, just expensive if not on sale. I burn less oil, and it idles much better than with the Valvoline Max Life I usually use. Much cleaner as well, I took the valve cover off recently to adjust the valves, and the rocker assembly was silver and clean. I've driven over 4k miles and the oil isn't purple, but gold now. Idk what happened there, I'm guessing it mixed with the oil left over upon the change. I recommend it anybody who can afford the stuff.

            Motor:stock f22a1 turbo
            Oil brand: pensoil
            Oil weight:10w30
Usage:ummm beat on daily lots of racing......
Additive:lucas oil stabilizer about 1/4 of qt for winter and 1/2 qt for summer
Filter:depends I like k&n for performance days but use Bosch for daily driving perposes.
Review: great oil on its own. For a turbo application it dose not break down as quick and dose not get as hot after hard runs. With the Lucas I noticed it dosent break down between oil changes as fast even with my hard driving daily. I like it.

I would be using T5 10w30 semi synthetic in the CB7 if it didnt burn so much oil

Out of curiosity, why would you choose to run a filter from another vehicle, from another manufacturer? I've never had leaking issues when using the right filter for the right vehicle. Also, are you watching the oil pressure on a gauge?

Oil Brand: Cheap conventional (Quaker/Penz/Castrol, basically whatevers on sale at the time)
                  Oil Weight: 5w30
                  Usage: Daily driver.
Additive: 1/2 bottle of Lucas Oil Stabalizer
                  Filter: Parts house special

Review: Love the oil, idles a lot better than the Mobil 1 I used to use. I realized that the motor is a lot cleaner also. Took the valve cover off and the valve train is cleaner and even after doing oil changes every 3000 miles or every year since I rarely drive my car I see that the motor isn't extremely dark.

Review: I noticed a bump in gas mileage by about 5%-7% and the oil appears cleaner than before when I used conventional. I personally have not performed an oil analysis, but the results I've seen on this stuff appear very promising. The downside; you can't find this stuff in the stores, so you have to order online.

Cheap, less than $20 a gallon. Not recommended for normal use. Works great for an engine that burns oil excessively.
