Any suggestions? Anything from the late 90's to present that is under $8,000.
I'm thinking a real "gangsta" car if you know what I mean. I'm just going to throw rims on it, a nice sterio, and call it a day.

what happened to the Sebring and or Dakota?

in truth I wouldn't pick up any of those cars, thats just from my tastes and opinions. The Jag V6's are... O.k, not horrible but they're not really peppy at all, I know this in person because my Faja owns one. as for the V8 I don't know, never really looked into them, I'm not too keen on that body style either. The Benz I'd definately think about something higher up than a C class if you're going for Baller status, the C class just doesn't give off that vibe.

As for the SL300... I'd be so down on that one, except it's Diarrhea brown.

My suggestions that were not on your list would be:

        BMW 7 series
Early Mercedes E or S class( Yakuza mobile!!!)
        Audi a8
and the I believe it was second Gen 3.2Tl's

I traded the Sebring for the Dakota a while back... It hurt my back so my parents kind of made me do it. I don't regret it, though.

The Dakota isn't going anywhere. But I would love to have another luxury car and I make enough money to do it so I figure I might as well do it.

Well I'm plenty open to suggestions if you care to offer any.

I went shopping with my friend (the guy who's GLI I moidillated on the track ) He was seriously looking for something to replace the GLI. He took a look at a Jaguar XK8 at a used car dealership. The cocky kid salesman (son of the owner) was trying to sell us on EVERYTHING... but when Justin looked at that Jag, the dude said "Man, this is an awesome car... but don't buy a Jag if you don't want to repair it regularly!"

When the pushy salesman guy says that, stay away! Jags are nice cars, but they've been pretty soulless since the mid-70s. If you want a Jag, get a 60s model.

The C-Class is ok... but the C is MB's introductory model. It's their 3 series, without the sporting prestige that comes with the 3 series. The 300SL would be my pick of that group, though that's a lot of dough for a car older than your CB7 was!

If this is a project car, and you expect to have a LOT of extra money to throw at it when things break (those cars are NOT cheap to fix!) Then go for it. Otherwise, buying older luxury cars is a bad idea. Especially older German and Brittish ones. If you're looking with a limited budget, and expect to remain within that limited budget for a while... look to the familar offerings from the Land of the Rising Sun. Lexus, Infiniti, Acura. Or even domestic... there are some domestics that are just straight pimp... The Buick Reatta / Cadillac Allanté is uncommon as hell, looks amazing fixed up, and has some performance potential (not all that much, but it sounds like you aren't looking for a sports car anyway...)

                    I don't want a legend.

It's not going to be baller yet, lol. If I wanted baller from the factory I'd enter a search criteria with a high price much higher than $8,000!

Just something slightly more luxurious than what I have now, if you know what I mean.

On a limited budget, stay away from MB and Jag. They break. And they cost a lot when they break.

BMW isn't a bad option. For 8000 you can get yourself a pretty decent e46. The e30 is more fun to drive, I'm told... but the luxury factor isn't as high... especially since they look so old! Regardless, BMW's repair costs are just as high as the others. The 3 series has always been a very reliable car, but an $8000 car will break on you...

Alternatively, the Lexus LS and GS are awesome cars, and very reliable. The Infiniti M and Q (if you can afford the gas!) are cool. The J30 isn't a great car, but it's unique... I may pick one up for a drift car to be different, if I ever decide to seriously try drifting.

My vote... GS300. And people here know my usual dislike for Toyota. You can get a decent one in your price range. They look cool, they're luxurious, RWD, and the V6 won't kill your wallet too much. They also don't really look all that dated... They're older, but if you keep it clean, people will probably think it's much newer than it really is!

Oh, and that last Jag you posted... it's 2 years older than my Pontiac, and half the price...

                        Right- Not performance.

My dakota is plenty fast enough. (too much for me in the rain and snow from time to time, haha)

Just something that when your friend pulls up in it, and you sit down in it, your like, "Damn... I want one of these!"

Well, when I was on autotrader, I searched through BMW and nothing was under 8k. I'm definitely open to BMW, though!
