    Interesting Find about Toyota cases..

    http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/op...-87361597.html

In the 24 cases where driver age was reported or readily inferred, the drivers included those of the ages 60, 61, 63, 66, 68, 71, 72, 72, 77, 79, 83, 85, 89—and I’m leaving out the son whose age wasn’t identified, but whose 94-year-old father died as a passenger.
    Discuss.

Thats probably the stupidist thing I've heard about this whole case so far.

Seriously - You feel better because its only a "drop in the bucket"

I'm thinking a little over 1/2 of all these "unintended accelerations" can be attributed to driver error, age being a key factor in that. Of the remaining 1/2, probably 3/4 of THAT half can be attributed to retards trying to cash in on a possible lawsuit against toyota.

This is a full-blown case of Stupid that is spreading at an alarming, epidemic rate.

                Probably more than 1/2

Anyone old enough to remember when Audi had the sudden acceleration problem? The government passed a law that autos had to depress the brake pedal in order to shift out of Park. When I heard that, my first thought was "What kind of idiot just slaps the car into gear?" I'd been taught to press the brake before I shifted out of drive, SO IT WOULDN'T MOVE SUDDENLY.

What this should do is make car companies go back to cable throttle anyways. Then there is no way it can be an issue other then a "floor mat" issue and that's on the owner in my book. Learn to check those kinds of things before you go driving. But seriously now-a-days cars have so many electronics and if you think about it, if they had cable throttle then they wouldn't have this issue. If the pedal got stuck on the floor mat with a cable throttle then you put the car in neutral and turn it off, not rocket science.

No-no-no, we will just stick with the electronic throttle and watch the body count rise on tv.

I have never had a throttle stick in a car I was driving, nor have I ever even heard of that in anyones car that I knew. And the funny part about that is, I worked for Lexus for 3.5 years as a mechanic and ended up leaving in 2007.

I doubt that, thats something that CANT fail under any circumstance and when you bring electronics into the picture to braking, not a good idea, unless the electronics serve as an assist.

I think when you a certain age, you should be tested by the DMV to see if you can still maintain safe driving on the road.

I heard they started doing eye tests on old people. either way its not enough. they need to be tested on real world conditions
