PS2 and 42" Plasma TV blue screen issue?

I'm having weird issues with my tv and PS2. Its a DAYTEK 42" tv (I regret not getting something better) and a normal PS2. The issue is that while it will play Tony Hawk it will not play other games like GT2. For GT2 it will load until the game actually starts. After you've choosen your car, course, etc, etc and the start/finish line appears, 3, ..2, ..1, .. Go.
Well the start of the race never happens. As soon as it tries to load the actual game/gameplay the TV goes blue. Now I know the game is still going on in the background.
I did go out and buy a component video cable (5 connections). I was using the normal RCA cables (white, yellow, red). The 5 connector component video shows up in black and white, choppy and the game chops to a hault.
The RCA gives me color, perfect gameplay until the game actually loads (the 3D part of it all).
Other racing games do the same thing. I've tried the PS2 on a older TV and it works fine.

Any ideas? Has anyone seen this? thanks

Tried turning the TV off then back on while its doing it?
Sounds like the TV cant get the resolution correct.
Have you tried another A/V cable?

I tried what you said and it returned to the blue screen. I'm thinking it must be the game specifically. ATV Off Road Fury 3 works fine. But GT2 and NFS Hot Pursuit won't play. I have tried using two sets of cables (RCA, and Component cables). Here's a vid of GT2 loading:

Well I've been reading for hours and trying different things and still the same result. I guess I blame the POS tv. the results were:

RGB cable = games work, in color. GT2 and NFS still blue screen the TV. Tony Hawkk and ATV Off Road Fury 3 work fine.

Composite cable (5 connections) = All games and even the PS2 configuration screen is in black and white. Not sure on this one, i've tried a million things.

& on that note, I give up.
