I was 20, one month before my 21st birthday, working at a small studio about 10 blocks away from the WTC. At first none of us knew what was going on. We seen tons of cops and firetrucks racing down Broadway. We then seen on TV what happened and we went up to the roof of the building and seen smoke but we could not see anything else so we went back into the studio and that is when we saw the other plane hit. By this time we were like wtf and we left the studio and started walking down Broadway towards the WTC. We only made it like 3 blocks and we seen the huge cloud of smoke coming through the buildings all around. That was when the first building fell. After this is was crazy with people running all over the place screaming so we just jumped into my friends car and headed north to my other friends house on the other side of central park. At his house we seen everything else on TV and we could see the dust cloud from outside his window.

they were contemplating on letting us go home early. and almost every room that had a tv was tuned into the news. that was crazy having every plane in the air grounded within 20 minutes. i remembered looking up and not a single airplane was stiring thru the air.

I was in 7th grade. I was waiting for my dad to come back from taking my younger sister to school. I remember i was watching tv when my dad walked into my room and told me to watch what was going on. We tuned to one of the news channel and about 10 minutes after we started watching the news the second plane hit, i didnt know what the twin towers were or what was going on but now i know the impact of that day. I went to school and everyone was talking about it, we even watched the news during class.Last edited by 408cb7; 09-11-2011, 09:25 AM.

I was in first period of biology. My teacher got a call and started to tell us we were under attack. The towers have been hit. One of my best freinds brother had an interview that morning in one of the towers. He woke up late and rescheduled. Ppl were crying for their love ones who were in downtown mahattan. When the second tower hit, ppl left. A lot of ppl left school. It was a hassle to get home. I saw the towers fall on tv. It was surreal. There shouldn't be any amount of hate that a person can have that would want to take the lives of soo many innocent ppl. No amount. Go after to person who put the hate there. Not the ppl making a living to support their families. I found out later that day, my father was down there. He wasn't harmed or hurt.
I'm going for the test to become a New York FireFighter!
R.I.P. to all lost on that fateful day, to the innocent civilians and NYPD and FDNY!!!!Last edited by Daheavyking; 09-11-2011, 09:33 AM.I fly by like the coupe grew wings!!!

Bet you dont have one of these
I met this guy who worked in one of the towers a few months ago.
He told me how he was in one when the other one got bombed and everyone was like stay calm and he was like hell no and he left
He was on the 95th floor and the plane hit on the 80 something floor.
He gave me his old card.

I was walking to the library during study period when a friend of mine told me that the WTC and Pentagon were under attack. I envisioned soldiers marching on the pentagon and I just laughed and thought she was crazy. Then we got to the library, watched the first tower smoke and then the second plane hit. That was when we knew it WAS an attack and we were now at war with an unknown force.

was cleaning my rifle in the berthing area of USS Kearsarge in the Med. some turned on CNN so we watched while it was all going down for about 30 minutes. Then we were informed to get all our gear and pack ammo, standby on flight deck to go ashore where needed. Allot of close friends lost at the time, and since then. We remember the fallen! Semper Fi

I was in 3rd grade, about 10:00 AM I think and the announcements came on, said school was dismissed.
Mom took me home, put on the news and started to cry.
Maybe I'm just so desensitized or maybe it's because I didn't know anybody directly affected by the incident but I really didn't feel anything. I didn't know what to feel and I still don't every time the day comes around.
I did however write a letter to George W. Bush (president at the time) the next day. Can't remember the details but he got it and I got something back, not sure what though.

I was living in Florida at the time.
I was in college taking my EMT classes. It was a Tuesday and i was off that day.
I was sleeping and i awoke to the sound of a guy's voice in my house which i thought was weird because my father and brother were not at home.
When i realized it was my neighbor Ken, i rolled over and fell back asleep.
I got out of bed a little while later and went to go find something to eat.
I found my mom sitting in front of the tv in the living room crying and watching what appeared to be a shoddy action movie.
When i walked over to see what the hell she was watching i watched the 2nd plane hit the towers in real time.
For the next hour or so we were just sitting there in horror and disbelief and watched the NYC skyline that we knew growing up change forever.
At one point my mother worked in the towers before i was born.
It really is still so hard to imagine or understand, how powerful such an event can be and how devastating it is.
I later learned that my neighbor Ken came over to tell my mom to turn on the news, so that is why he was in my house so early.
God bless the men and women who ran into those towers while everyone else was rushing out.
To the firefighter who carried that women down from like the 70th floor.
To the firefighters or police officers who were off and lost friends and family.
And to all the unfortunate souls that simply showed up to work that day.
Shall we never forget.

I was in 10th grade, and when I first saw it on tv I thought it was a joke because the show my family used to watch always joked about these things, we turned it to the news about 5 min before the second plane hit live, we didn't do anything at school that day but watch the news

I was home on a 2 hour break between classes. I sat and watched the second plane hit, and the first tower fall. Then I got in my car and drove to class. My professor was a hardass, and I never expected class to be cancelled... it was, of course. I suppose the reality of what happened didn't quite set in yet, even though by the time the second plane hit, it was obvious that it was an attack, and not just a terrible accident.
I remember driving to school looking up, marveling at the lack of planes in the sky (I live very close to the Philly airport, and we see air traffic from AC, NYC, DC and Baltimore regularly. ALWAYS planes overhead!) A few of my friends packed their bags and went to help. I wanted to, but I have no qualifications, and they weren't letting anyone that wasn't police, fire, or military through (maybe not even military... local firefighters helped out, though.)

its hard to believe its already been 10 years. I was in fourth grade and the seceretary comes over the announcement thing saying we will be getting out early. Being in 4th grade and not knowing anything everyone was excited and loving the fact of getting out early. Then, we all knew something was up when people were called out early left and right one after the other. I got home and saw on the news what was going on and was shocked. What i saw on the tv that day changed the way i look at life and a lot of other things.
