Hey everyone need some advice on tools

Okay I thought about gettin an impact compressorgun to work on my cars. Now whichg one would be more beneficiaol im not so fond of buying a big gigantic air compressor.

Now as for the other option what about an electric impact gun should that help? would it be good enough to do the job or does it depend? Your constructive comments are appreciated.

Hide the air compressor in a different room and run hose

Look up the Ingersol Rand W7150 electric impact. Thing looks pretty bad ass. I think it has something like 1200 ft-lbs of break away torque. I'm thinking of getting one because I don't have the room for the compressor in my garage and I hate having a hose on the floor that I can trip over.

Ever since I bought the Milwaukee cordless impact I haven't used the compressor. It less of a hassle and removes everything I toss at it from crank bolts, wheels, axle nuts etc.

Yep get electric impact, cordless ftw.
A noisey compressor, space, and running airlines on the floor is a pita.

Just make sure you get a good brand, and a 2nd battery is worth while if your doing a bit of work.

I got it real cheap from a distributor whom I have an account with. It comes in really usefull in track events and junk yard missions. Pretty cheap from amazon as well.

You should probably post a budget. I have this, its cheap and I don't expect it to last forever but it has enough power to get axle nuts off

Im willing to pay up atleast to 200 as long as the job is done right maybe 250 and then i gotta get an engine hoist to see if I can try to manage something. I also want to get a table mechanic bench to work on my car for.

electric plug in impacts are great. I have a cheap one from Harbor Freight and it works awesome. Cordless are handy, but won't have quite the torque that an electric has.

Pneumatic impacts are also nice, depending on which one you buy. The better ones are quite expensive, and they need a decent amount of air supply. Having an air compressor that's 60+ gallons is a great asset and allows you to use an entire array of different tools. Also, air tools tend to be much smaller and yet very powerful.

My friend has an electric (wired) DeWalt impact gun that I've used to snap bolts and strip threads plenty of times on my car!

Looks like this. I dunno if this is the exact same model, but it looks right.

I don't care for power tools when working on these old cars, though. They really do seem to break everything they touch. I've never broken a bolt or stripped threads with hand tools. My traction bar (your old bar, Mike!) is welded to my car because I stripped out the threads of 3 of the 4 main front crossmember bolts on each side using that black and yellow beast. Granted, my own careless use is mostly to blame there...

Great impact gun. I've had trouble taking off a few crank pulley bolts with it before, but the snap on gun is still one of the best cordless impacts.

This gun is definitely going to be the one to have. I used a prototype a few months ago to change my timing belt, and it took off the crank pulley bolt that the snap on gun couldn't take off.

If you plan on getting this gun go with the lithium Ion battery. I have one of their old cordless impact guns with ni-cad batteries, and those batteries constantly die.

Another great impact gun. It is lighter and better balanced compared to the more expensive guns on the market. It is a great tool to keep around for regular use.
