I guess "ugly" was a bit harsh. It's just that those headlights and foglight surrounds look like a LOT of other recent cars from other brands. There's such a lack of originality in modern car design. At least in my opinion, I don't think Japan will ever top their '90s designs; so many timeless bodies came out of that era, and cars are only getting bigger and more bloated.

If that actually is a Beat concept, and the real thing (if there is one) can be kept the size of, say, a Mini Cooper, that would be cool.

^ You know, when this latest generation of retro muscle cars first hit, I loved the Camaro and hated the Challenger (I never didn't like Mustangs). Now the Camaro annoys the hell out of me, and the Challenger looks like one mean mofo in certain colors. I could definitely see myself driving a Challenger.
