Any cars I drove, let it be FF or FR, give enough warning of hydroplaning prior to actual spin. It would be foolish to take the car to that speed with the condition he was in.
It doesn't seems he was going that fast. Or, the tires were really worn out.
Also, it seems to me that spin started as he hit the brake due to the car in front had slowed down.
Also, one of the top comments:
Looks like that car....
Had a fitting end!
MRT
37.5 MPG, AC on, cruising at 80.
30.0 MPG, AC on, aggressively driving around 90.
27.5 MPG, no AC, cruising at 90 with occasional gridlock. 40 degrees Fahrenheit
Could've hit a slick spot if the rain was freezing rain. Honestly seems more likely that the road was frozen or something since that other car spun out in the same area.
Most people can drive through hydroplaning, and to have 2 lose control back to back would be super rare. I dunno, sucks for the driver either way.
I would've shit myself.

It sounds like he did.
If I make any noise while trying to control a car doing something like that, it's simply:
SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT and repeat.

watching it twice; definitely initiates the spin when he brakes for the tow truck. He seemed to be going too fast for the situation. And a bunch of other unknowns of the car. Maybe it needed a brake job along with some thin rear tiress. Or just got a brake job could only afford 2, and put the news ones up front and leaving the rears or moving toasted fronts to back (I do this all day long on hoopdis) Maybe even a combination of this and patch of slickness, He sorta came out of the "ruts" left by other drivers then tapped the brakes, small light car like that along with the short wheelbase + height thing..and yer outta there. At least he was buckled up, otherwise he probably been dead easily in that shoebox. what a trooper though, regain coherence and reach for the camera right away lmao
