    Yesterday Afternoon's Adventure

I had a sort of adventure yesterday afternoon after work and here are the results.

    Can you spot what's wrong?

Can you guess what the bed-flex is caused by?

    See it now?

    Now?

    Yeah, that's right.

Yeah, that's right. I had a blowout. Part of that tire had been swolen for a while from broken beltness but I have a stripped/spinning lug stud that spins with the lugnut, so I couldn't simply swap the spare tire onto the truck.

So I went for a cruise around town in my baby and the usual 45 MPH tire vibration got violent when I was slowly climbing a hill at like 35, then it blew and I safely got her off to the side of the road and called AAA. I had the driver tow the truck home so my friend could come over soon with his air chisel so we can chisel that sucker off.

I think I'm most impressed you didn't lose the hubcap. Those are some really durable pieces.

'Tis true. After all, it's a Ford.

What, are you kiddin' me? I love that truck thirty times more than my Accord! It was my grandfather's truck. He bought it in 1981 or '82 and now it's mine.

But don't worry, Ralphie, I'm gettin' another CB7 after my next couple'a paychecks.

Actually, it's an F-150. "Ranger XLT" is just the trim package.

And no, it's a three-speed automatic. But it's still fun to drive. Might only have a 302 (smallest V8 Ford put in those trucks, with 460 being the biggest) but it's still fun to drive.

Damn shame... nice truck though. I'm probably getting a similar year F-150 from a friend soon.

I couldn't live without a truck. They're so much handier than cars for everything except the actual act of driving.

                    Thanks.

Except the actual act of driving? I don't know about other trucks but with halfway decent tires this truck drives like a car. It most certainly drives better than my Accord (even though it's just coilovers on OEM shocks, lol).

I just meant for spirited driving and gas mileage. As far as driving comfort, I'll take a truck any day. I prefer driving trucks to cars on the freeway but the gas mileage means that all my long trips are in the CB7.

It's nice to have a low, good handling car that gets good mileage to go with the comfortable truck that can haul anything.

BTW, I like your Accord, it looks like a cop car.

Yeah, the Honda gets better gas mileage, but I'm surprised how good the gas mileage on my truck is for a carbureted 302 V8. But yeah, the Honda still gets better mileage.

lol. You're the second person to tell me that. I drove up to this one boy's house I know and he said he thought the cops were after him.
