    Time Travel

Well, since the search function is down (at least to me) I thought I would start up a discussion about time travel. I'm sure this has been covered before, but I don't want to search through all these threads at the moment.

So, do you believe it's possible or not? Do you believe that we have already been visited by people from the future? Discuss.
Always remember that only you can make your dreams a reality.

Never forget that your style is all that matters when it comes to your ride, but be respectful to others who don't share your vision.

This is tough... There is ofcourse no way to know if we've ever been visited before.... Because in the future, they may perfect time travel, and come back to visit us. I dont understand quantum physics... and i dont know the basic ideas behind what it takes to travel thru time. But, if you look at 100 years ago, technology sucked compared to present day. So im sure in 100 years from now, our technology that is so 'cutting edge', will be a thing of the past...

Why would we come back to study our selves from the future. If we did get time travel to work I am positive that one of the scientists would come back for personal reasons to change something in their life or to change a political altercation of some sort. I know if i could i would change a few things Ie; kennedy shooting, but with that comes the butterfly affect. If you change one thing it becomes a ripple in time changing minute things along the span of time afterwards. So even if you change that one event you may set the ripple off that may wipe you out of existance.

we cannot travel at the speed of light, so i do not see it to be possible.

i dont really see how time travel could be possible, but of course i dont know all of the details of quantum physics and such. i dont know everything, so theres are just my views and thoughts...

we live in a physical world, where everything we do and interact with and exist by is matter and energy. time is just our way of interpreting and describing the change and motion of everything around us, which we can perceive due to our ability to remember things. time is an abstract mental/psychological correlation between concrete physical dynamics.

from a physical standpoint, i dont see how time travel could be possible, as like i said, time isnt anything we can interact with. people always say dogs and little kids cant judge the passage of time accurately, probably because they cant mentally create sequential connections between things that have happened and the things that are currently happening.

how can one go "back" in time? "5 hours ago" or "a million years ago" is only a recollection/memory of events and situations of the past, the way things USED to be, not the way things currently are. theres nothing to go "back" to, or anything to jump forward to... all of the matter and life in this world is constantly moving and changing linearly, so there will always be Past, Present and Future. past is what we remember, present is what we are experiencing now, and future is what we guess/hope/assume is going to happen eventually. for this reason, i think reading into the future is impossible, short of possible divine assistance.

theres so many dynamics and variables in life/existance that i dont think anybody can physically travel through time, short of somehow reverting EVERY trillion variables in existance back to exactly how they were. and even so, just the "traveller" being there would mean things are even .0001% different, and make it so the past he is somehow experiencing is not the exact past that had happened.

the whole travelling faster than the speed of light is BS to me... out of everything we as humans know an understand about our surroundings, light is the fastest travelling matter/energy. why is that the cutoff speed for successful time travel? just because theres nothing physically faster for us to understand? speed, just like time, is not physical, its a way of measuring change. there will always be a rational expression of the speed of light + 1... also, how would travelling really really really fast make it so you could somehow exist and live in the past?

for me, time travel is just a cool idea that humans created, something to create mind bending storylines and ideas, but not something that will ever be possible.

i hope i made my point clearly enough.

i dont know if you guys know.. but i'm from the future. the reason i came back is cuz i love cars and cb7tuner.com doesnt exist. i hate the fact that the insurance went up too high on my lexus Flow3500. everything is just too expensive. i was jealous how the past were so cheap as hell. i stole the time machine to go to the past. i'm suck here cuz my machine doesnt exist in the past. but it's okay i love both of my girlfriend and being on the floor =) how u doing guys?

I think this guy is prolly a time traveler from the future just tryna throw us off.

Nah but you took the words right outta my mouth and then phrased them a lot better than I ever could. It just doesn't seem physically possible.

I still need to generate a 1.21 Jigowatts of electricity. Great Scott!!!

Hmm , i beleive that there aint a possibilty of time traveling. Future aint been written yet.
and cp[mike] nice detailed info you had written

I heard that traveling to the past might be possible at some time but will never be possbile to go to the future

I belive it is possible to distort time to esentialy travel into the future. to do this you would need to travle clost to the speed of light, which is possible in my opinion. now basicly mass increses as an object aproches the speed of light so if you are pushing the object along with enough force to get it there you will have to constantly increse the force to have the same acceleration, so as the object comes closer to the speed of light you need an ever incresing amount of force to accelerate it because the relitive mass increses. how it is possible to travel at that speed or beyond you may ask? well think of it this way; the realative mass of your ship increses as you apporach the speed of light but so does the mass of the fuel, and the mass increses at the same rate. so therefore, the thrust that the engine makes becomes proportional to the gain in mass, causing constant aceleration.
on the other hand it would take right at 70 days of a constant 5g's acceleration to reach the speed of light. on takeoff astronuats feel about 4g's btw. so It is possible but not likely to happen anytime soon.

so as you accelerate faster, your ship gets bigger, or more dense? and your fuel tank fills itself, and your engines become more efficient? how does that make any sense?

I have pictures with my time machine to prove it. Check it out.
