He's been living in poverty... and driving a CB7.
Dad, are we poor?
It definitely makes me feel old when there are people on here old enough to drive, but not old enough to remember this song (or even be alive when it was released!)
IMO, that's when rap was good. In those days, rappers weren't gangsters. They weren't rich. They were just guys doing what they love. Rap was music, not business. Now, they sing about getting rich. They sing about the fact that your poor ass just dropped $20 on their CD, and $50 on their concert... so they can brag to you about it how much better off they are. Screw that. Down with balla rap, up with Paperboy!
We should try to re-launch his career
get CB7tuner behind Paperboy, and see if we can make him big again!

Yo deeve there is soo much good rap out there but they stay underground. The major record label are blood sucking leeches. Many of these underground artist have all the major record labels throwing big deals in their laps but they dont want to sell themselves out. They usually make 99% while you make 1% and you sign you life over. There is plenty of concious hip hop out there you just have to look underground. I will keep telling people this until I am blue in the face or deadOriginally posted by deevergoteIMO, that's when rap was good. In those days, rappers weren't gangsters. They weren't rich. Paperboys problem could of been his record label. Usually once you get a big hit they pressure you to keep a certain image and keep making them money.
When rappers complain their record label did them wrong, it like complaing your pimp beats you...
CONCIOUS HIP-HOP FTW!

Exactly. I mean I was 12 when it came out, but I was still bumping the tape single.
That is still a hot song IMO. They still play it a lot here in the central valley since that is where he is from.
