ricky- I'm curious...how, with OEM parts, can you get a Metro into the 14s? I'm not doubting...it's just...they start with 55HP.
some other GM used a supercharger that will bolt on the 3 cylinder metro motor.....with that and a few similar mods, you're at 150hp and that's a 14 second car when you weigh a ton at most...........

domestics were making interchangeable parts long before imports were.....people have been pulling from this to add to this for decades

yeah, there were quite a few boosted versions of that van.......and they weren't "fast" out of the box, but like most boosted setups, could be made to be very fast.......

someone has a built up van like that and runs 10's or something

Wait...Dodge Stealth not being a tuner car?

You do know that the Dodge Stealth and Mitsu 3000 GT are the same car, right?

Does that make an Eagle Talon not a tuner car because it's technically sold by a domestic company?

Btw, the Escort was based off the Mazda 323.

a lot of the mid/late 80's fords/mazdas were based directly on the xr4ti (eXperimental, Rear wheel drive, Four cylinder, Turbo, fuel Injected)

the probe's original design even incorporated the bi-wing...the escort is closely related and in europe, the cosworth escort was going to use the same 2 liter DOHC Turbo engine that the sierra (xr4ti) rs500 did, but they used a toned down, cheaper design so that they didn't ruin what the rs500 had that made it stand out..........the contour is based on it too.....323/626 also

The Ford Escort Cosworth of the Mid 90's was probably one of the sickest cars built...

You don't see these very often...

My buddy just picked that one up for $500. It's a 1985 Nissan 200SX, and it has a 1.8L turbo motor in it...CA18ET. I didn't expect it to be fast at all but it actually has some decent grunt to it.

The cool thing about these cars is that a CA18DET and SR20DET are basically a bolt in affair, and some of them even came with VG30's...so I think that's a possible swap as well. It's got some sweet knight-rider style gauges to boot.

For some reason, the old school 200SX seem worthless to me....They are extremely heavy for their class, handling is weak, engines are pretty weak as well.

although RWD is the only plus...

May be a little off-topic, but weren't the Probe and MX-6 essentially the same?

hmmm nope...probe has a different engine

                          mx-6 has the klze engine

pretty much a direct swap tho in a sense..my buddy just put a jdm klze engine into his probe

I remember the old Sport Compact Car article about the "Fastiva." It was built by Cameron Waugh of CWS Tuning in Canada. It had a Prelude Catback, a Ford Ranger front lip, a round front headlight behind lexan conversion.

That thing was badass! Then it got stolen and someone trashed it.

Probably some honkey that got their Camaro stomped in front of their girlfriend.

Yes they are mechanically excatly the same, aesthetically diffrent....obviously

both used the 2.5 litre K series V-6 motor

the 2nd gen probe and 2nd gen mx6 are the same cars......same 2 liter and same v6.....ford had a lot to do with mazda then so the mx6 is basically just a knock off of that

90% of the cars are interchangeable
