ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

make sure its unstaked lol...i have a similar gun with the same torque. usually the shops pound them on with tons of air pressure and its hard to get them off but you may have to go through a few breaker bars but if they are torqued down to the proper spec then this gun will take them off np after.

mine were both welded on after 12 years in new york never being removed. had a snap on heavy duty impact wrench running 16opsi, nothing. tried some heat from a mapp gas and pb a couple times with the impact, nothing! i had to use a rotary tool to cut a channel through the nut and then bend/snap it off. i did it carefully to not damage the axle threads, even though i replaced both axles once they were off.

No shit, Jose (d112crzy) and I used a breaker bar and a 1 1/2 foot pipe. We had to stand on the damn pipe for mine to break loose when we swapped my engine.

i hate these old rusted axle nut man, i loosen mine with a 40" breaker bar which is a 3/4" drives. Have someone turn the car on and step on the brake as hard as they can while you loosen that nut. I recommend that 3/4 drive 40" breaker Bar, it works my man. haha

i took mine off w/ a 5 ft. galvanized steel pipe bought at the plumbing sect. of Lowes, and my 1/2 in. breaker bar. Worked perfect. Pipe only cost me 10 dollars and the 36mm socket was 18.99 w/ a lifetime warranty. I then returned both lol, and got my money back. Shoulda kept them, since I have to take my axles out again for my swap. Oh well. I'll borrow my friends tools.

i had the same problem while changing the front rotors, i had to use a torch to expand the nut. after that i had to guys jumping on the breaker bar and it eventually came off.

yeah, a 4-5 ft steel pipe over your breaker bar will take that thing off like no tomorrow.

impact guns are good, but really they aren't necessary for any kind of job where you have clearance for manual tools.

just make sure the nut is unstaked or you'll take the axle threads off with the nut.

when i did my axles ,my mechanic buddy used his 3/4" drive air impact Ingersoll Rand gun and it whipped the driver side off in 7 seconds but actually struggled with the passenger side, took 30 seconds to get it off. basically it was RUST on the threads that was causing all the problems.

I feel pity for all the Hyundai owners who have to take their rotors off in pieces because the rustweld themselves to the hub.

I know because the wife has an 01 Elantra and thats how we did it. I wish i would've taken pics of the carnage

As stated, A two foot breaker bar with a piece of pipe to extend the lenth. Set the car down with the wheel on and stand on the extended bar. Mine was a bitch the first time too. However after the first time it breaks loose pretty easy in the future.

I should tell you to make sure your axles are ALL the way in before bolting it back together though. If the tranny end of the axle is not flush to the input it can pop out and grind the axle end up. After that you'll need another new axel again, not to mention the metal shavings now inside your tranny.

No use crying over a torn boot.

I had to cut one of my spline nuts off when I did mine. I broke a brand new 3/4 breaker bar using a 40" cheater.

Sometimes you need the shock of an impact- I don't have a compressor and sometimes I end up having to put things back together to drive to a garage- they won't care at a tire place if you use their gun to break things loose. Just bring a torque wrench and put it back on tight enough to get back to where you're working at.
