ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

Read them. You will be expected to follow them.

The place I would start first would be the engine. Work from the bottom up, oilpan to valve-cover. For those aspirations, your going to need a sleeved & braced block, forged internals, headwork, valve-train upgrades, a big turbo, and a solid tune. For transmissions I would consider using the longer geared f22 transmissions as you will remain in boost for longer. You might also want to look into water-injection if you plan on running on pump gas. That should give you somethings to work on. When you have the plan, or questions answered to help you with that plan feel free to post, and we'll be happy to offer commentary.

If the transmission is what you want to know about, why did you make a thread about the engine?

Most of the high-horsepower guys on here are running stock transmissions, just rebuilt. Some of them may have custom gearing, but to be honest... what works best depends on their engine setup.

because I know so little about transmissions I didn't know how a rebuilt stock vs replacing with a different one would affect the engine. thanks on the insight guys this helps a lot I'll try an keep this thread updated with progress ^_^

          Ok, so new question...

should I go with dry sleeves or try something different and go with wet sleeves?

I haven't heard much chatter about wet sleeves so I'm curious if anyone has used them?

and maybe a good brand to look into?

That all depends, are you building a naturally aspirated motor or a turbo charged motor?

Darton M.I.D.....a dry sleeve is really only a replacement liner. If you want to go over bore or put the boost to your engine a closed deck wet sleeve would be the way to go. Installing a set of wet sleeves is not something different. I would say 9 times out of 10 when you hear someone refer to sleeving their block. They are talking about installing wet sleeves.

thank you ghost I'm going to look more into that

Is there a special place I should be asking about swapping my transmission? or can I just continue to post in this thread because it pertains to the same buildup?

Please use the edit button to add to a post, rather than posting repeatedly.

If you want to ask about the transmission, make a new thread about it. Your transmission swap is NOT part of a motor build. This site is intended to be a searchable database of information, so when someone wants to learn about a transmission swap, they will not be searching through threads about "Building up F22A4".

well I wouldn't know without asking questions first... I suppose there a lot of people who are new who just KNOW everything huh? I guess I just pictured this site to be a place where I could ask questions and get answers instead of people talking down to me and making me feel stupid.

Thanks to those of you who actually helped its appreciated.
