ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Fuel pump replacement with no start

Ok I have a 93 Honda Accord LX which has been a real reliable car until last week it has 214,200 miles and is completely stock.... here is my problem...i havnt drove my car in about 4 months because i have been letting my sister drive it to and from school. she informed me that the car was not starting one mourning so i went and check it.. I did the routine checklist of you know checking the plugs gas cap fuses etc.... i ended up having to replace the spark plug wires cause they were as old as the car and having to replace the fuel pump cause i wasn't hearing that normal clicking sound when i turn the car on. after going through the dreadful task of dropping the tank and that B.S. to hopefully fix the car.....not the case.....when i went to start the car it just cranked and cranked and wouldn't turn over and i noticed i still didnt hear the clicking sound as before with the new fuel pump installed I never had this problem before...Im at a complete lost trying to figure out whats wrong with this car any help will be greatly appreciated...Thanks

My guess is you never checked the main relay. Your fuel pump may have not even been the issue.

Main relay is a very common no-start issue, especially in hot weather. As said, the fuel pump was probably fine.
I just spent the last 2 hours helping my friend finish dropping his tank... and yeah, it's no fun. You should've posted before doing the pump. We'd likely have saved you a ton of effort!

This is the part you want to look for. It's located under the dash, to the left of the steering column.
You can replace it with a new one, or if you're handy with soldering electronics, you can attempt to repair it. There are probably some cracked solder joints in yours, though they may not be visible without magnification.

Thanks Bro!!! yea it would have saved alot of time i spent 2hours droppin the tank and 3hours putting it back in... I had 4got about posting to the forum because i thought it was going to be an easy swap out and drive on off type deal but getting that tank off was a real pain!!! i was wondering why didnt they put an access port in under the back seat like in the civic that would have been a major help 20 years later

^^ No need to take the dash apart, its located under the cruise control box, which if I remeber correctly, is two bolts, and should take you less than 5 minutes to remove.

I resoldered every internal contact after mine started acting up, and have not had an issue over 4 years later.

There is an access panel on the cb7s. Don't remember if it's under the trunk carpet or the back seat but they have one.

Main relay is easy to get to. remove the panel under the steering wheel and it's up in there.

^That is the only access hole/cover. There is not one for the fuel pump unless you make one or someone has made one in the past.

Correct. The tank HAS to be dropped to remove the fuel pump, unless you decide to cut a hole in your floor.

Thats how I replaced my fuel pump. It went out right after I bought the car and I had just filled the tank. My S14 has a fuel pump access cover so I figured I would add one to my Accord. I didn't use heat or sparks though. I used metal snips to cut a nice square hole and then I used a file to clean it up. Then I used some sheet metal and formed it to the contour of the hole and bolted it down with 4 bolts, nuts and washers. It looks like it came that way. It took a while to but now a fuel pump change is quick.
