I've changed the alternator 3 times and then had them all tested to see if I just kept getting duds. They all passed and passed being under load. I also replaced the battery 3 times. They also came back as good. The car will start and run fine but the lights will slowly dim and after about 30 minuets the battery light comes on and it starts to back fire and stall and the battery will be too weak to power the starter. If I let it sit for 5-6 hours though it has power to start again. No burning wire smell, no blown fuses. Any ideas?

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956
Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)
Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.
These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.
1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.
2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.
3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.
4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.
The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.
The rules for the overall forum can be found here:

I'll test for an open circuit, didn't even think of doing that.Originally posted by djcaz_aom View PostCheck fuse #2 in the under dash fuse box.
Next check the plug for proper connection. Also test for an open circuit.

Check the voltage being generated at the alternator, then at the battery. Check all the wiring in between for good connections. Check to make sure both main battery cables are in good shape and particularly that the ground cable is well attached at the engine end.90 LX 4dr 5 spd 396,014 (sold 1/1/2022) - MRT: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=201450

I had same issue with my 93. I tried 3 different alternators. Two new (reman) one Denso from wrecked 92 accord. All three with different voltage regulators. (even tried swapping regulators around). Couldn't find anything wrong with fuse #2, all connections were good, forced a load on eld, (the audio amp, relay/resistor trick.) Was told by a Honda Tech it could be ECU or faulty ELD. I never did figure it out. It's a doner for my 91. If you have about $150 laying around Honda can do diagnostics and tell you what's wrong with it.Originally posted by Vermonter View PostStupid question; When you are buying these alternators, do they come with a new voltage regulator, or are you reusing your old one?
Sorry couldn't help more than somewhere to look at. Hope you figure it out.
