ANY BUYING/SELLING IN THIS FORUM WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN!

Read the rules: http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=43956

Myself, and the other mods have been very nice and lenient with the rules. We have been deleting threads, and giving out warnings. Some members didn't get the clue and re-posted over and over... Now ANY member buying or selling in this section will be banned... No IF's AND's or BUT's.

Beginner Forum Rules - EVERYBODY read! (old and new members alike!)

Beginners start here. Once you have 30 worthwhile posts (off topic doesn't count) you may post outside of the Beginner forums. Any "whoring" (posting simply to raise your post count) will return your count to 0, or result in a ban.

These are the rules. Read them. Live by them.

1) Absolutely NO flaming! "Flaming" is an outright attack on a member. ALL questions are encouraged to be asked here, no matter how basic. Members with over 30 posts will be subject to a ONE WEEK ban if caught flaming in this forum (and yes, moderators can read deleted posts). Members with under 30 posts will be subject to a ONE DAY ban.

2) Use appropriate language. Racial or sexual slurs will not be tolerated. A ban will be issued at the discretion of the cb7tuner.com staff.

3) No items may be sold in the Beginner forums. Any "for sale" threads will be deleted.

4) Temporarily banned members will be PERMANTLY banned if they are found posting on another account.

The rules can and will be added to. Any updates will be marked in the title.

poly bushing for radius rod?

    poly bushing for radius rod?

Wasted a few hrs and cant seem to find the answer. Is there a poly bushing for the radius rod? do they call them "FRONT STRUT ROD BUSHINGS" as i would think those would go on the strut, but they look right.

Also when changing radius rod bushings do I need to count how many turns it takes to take of the nut or anything special for example like when changing a tie rod?

    Thanks.

There is no such thing as a strut on a CB7 Accord. We have shocks. But yes, that is the bushing you want.

You can count turns, but due to the compressibility of the urethane, you may not end up in the same location. I would try to do tie rod ends and lower ball joints at the same time just to have an excuse to take it all to the alignment shop and get it dialed in perfectly.

Seeing as the OEM Honda parts for the CB and the CD generations share the same part number, these should work for what you are looking for.

So I have a few more questions. Does any one know if there is a smaller and a lager bushing in the poly kits like there is in the OEM?

To clarify I know how to install tie rods, been there done that. What I am asking is when changing the radius rod bushings is there some trick like with tie rods that must be done so you do not mess up alignment?

I plan on getting an alignment, just not yet. I also dont know if they will mess with the radius rods.

My goal is to put new bushings in all the way around then get an alignment.

theres no trick, the only would be to measure the distance from the first bolt to the start of the bush seat, and then when you install the new one to make that distance equal, but just get an aligment because removing any suspension means it wont go back together exactly the same
sold! But here's my build thread for those interested.

The position of the nut is determined by the length of the spacer running through the center of the bushings; the nut is torqued to 32 ft-lb which clamps it on the spacer to create a set amount of compression of the two bushings. The caster can be adjusted by changing shims on the radius rod inside of the large inner washer; unfortunately, this requires removing the rod in order to take the inner bushing and large washer off. I think in all the alignments I've ever had done on my Accords, they've never had to adjust caster. Every one I've ever taken apart has had only one shim, but I can't say that they've all had the same shim thickness.

Very good reply by fleetw00d, exactly how I would explain it too. I changed mine to Hardrace ones that also came with new spacers. According to OEM parts database there is only one shim thickness available, no options to choose from like on transmission shims for example.

sweet, thanks for all the info guys. I use alldata and there was no info but torque spec, not even a diagram. That is a first.

                Thank you all again.

Thanks, I didn't check that. So only more or less of the same shim to adjust caster (I suppose one could find thicker/thinner washers that fit to make finer adjustments).

March 13: Did some checking because of my own alignment issue. The stock shim is 0.130 inches thick. Each shim is good for 25' (25 minutes - that is 25/60 of a degree). OEM manual states "... caster angle can be adjusted by 50' maximum." Maybe this is meant to indicate 50' either side of the nominal 3 degrees, but the manual states earlier in that section 3 +/-1 degrees.

                      HON CAS SPACERS 1/16(10) 84690
                      ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
These spacers change caster approximately 1/8 degree (84690) and 1/4 degree (84695). Adding spacers between the strut rod assembly and the large washer repositions the lower control arm to decrease caster. Removing them increases caster. Each part number comes in a package of ten with complete instructions.

Front Adjustment range: Caster -1/8° to -1/4°
                      Installation time: .5 hr/side
                      Required: 1 spacer per wheel

Did you end up going with those blue bushings? Those are the only rubber ones left on the front of mine and I'd like to replace them since everything else polyurethane
