    Rear quarter panel swap?

My buddy who works at a junkyard called me and said he had two 92' accords come in. I am thinking of going out there and cutting out the metal in the rear quarter panel and swapping it onto my cb7.

I am just curious if anyone has done this and has any tips?

When you cut it out please let me know if its hard. And also let me know how much you paid to get it on your car and complete.
I cheated on my cb7 with an e30.....Not cool. I will be a honda boy at heart though woop woop

On the sedan there's 93 spotwelds that need to be drilled out.

Expect to pay more than an H22 to install them.

Damn. How much is then to just weld some scrap metal to the rusted area? Sorry for talking as if the thread is mine. Last post on here.

I don't know. But don't forget if your rust is bad, that means the inner wheel tubs are most likely shot. You might be able to get it all patched up. It all depends on what you have available, your budget, and how perfect you want it to look.

Well I was going to do the body work but have someone weld it in. It's just an idea I am tossing around.

The rust is getting to the point where it will cost more to fix it then the cars worth. I might just keep doing what I have always been doing, turning my head when it comes to rust.

I can't get my car to pass inspection because of the 1/4 panel rust. I failed 3 times due to the rust, now I have to take it a private inspection station and pay them to pass it. I tried explaining to the inspector that the rust repair is worth more than the car, but they told me its "state law, no sharp edges".

The only feasible solution is cut out a piece odf sheet metal that will replace the rusted area. The wheel tubs are too difficult to replace, so don't bother with that, the door covers them anyway.

You should be able to just glob bondo onto the rust and get away with it, that's what my friend did on his Mazda.

As far as the wheel tubs, that's not the door piece. That's the inner sheet metal that the actual outer metal (painted part) attaches to.

But yes, this repair does pretty much cost what the car is worth. However, I'd say its easily doubling the value of the car for pracitcal selling purposes.

hey now i didn't get used quarterpanels but yea if the rust is bad the wheel wells are prob bad as well. and u can't really weld to rust lol. the install takes along azz time. i got both rear quarterpanels replaced and custom wheel wells. whatever u do, if u plan on keeping the car.....if the rust is bad NO PATCH WORK....replace. bc eventually the rust will come back with avengence. have fun u got a big project on your hands!

, everything this man says is right on point........i got a warning for my rotted out cb7.....than i past becuase i bondoed it, than i ended up selling it do to the severity of the cancer....i had really bad rot on both quarters and the cost to fix it the right way easily outvalued the cars worth...so i sold it and havent been happier since, its to hard to get a rust free cb7 in my area. but good luck...
