Long story short: the rub strips on the side of my car badly needed some TLC. I got out some brake fluid and used that to clean off any wax deposits (a couple here and there), wiped the rub strips down, and added Mother's Back to Black. The strips fore and aft (in front of and behind, in layman's terms
) of the door look great (black and glossy). However, the strips on the doors still look flat and rubbery.
Are the strips on the door a different material than the strips on the body, and if so, is there anything that can get them matching the others? I know some people paint their rub strips, but I just can't stomach the "coat of paint slapped over everything" look that so many cheap apartments/Maaco jobs have.
Check my member's ride thread for pics. The 1st pic captures it nicely.
