    Rub strips - Different materials?

Long story short: the rub strips on the side of my car badly needed some TLC. I got out some brake fluid and used that to clean off any wax deposits (a couple here and there), wiped the rub strips down, and added Mother's Back to Black. The strips fore and aft (in front of and behind, in layman's terms ) of the door look great (black and glossy). However, the strips on the doors still look flat and rubbery.

Are the strips on the door a different material than the strips on the body, and if so, is there anything that can get them matching the others? I know some people paint their rub strips, but I just can't stomach the "coat of paint slapped over everything" look that so many cheap apartments/Maaco jobs have.

Check my member's ride thread for pics. The 1st pic captures it nicely.

I swear, eventually I'll run out of things to break.

I guess I was wrong... I broke it all. Died 10/29/06

Im not completely sure, but it seems like the trim on the body is a hard plastic while the pieces on the doors are rubber... thats why it could look different..dont know what to tell ya, but Back to Black works for me..could be that i put alot of it on the door trim

I use Meguairs Gold Class High Gloss Tire Gel on my door trim and I find it to be an amazing product.

This is what it looks like on the car

As you can see, it gives a really good gloss. It also lasts a lot longer than the Back to Black (which I have used in the past).
