Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

EGR CEL after block off plate install

just got my egr block plate in today for 8 bucks and installed it
i sandwiched in between the egr and the hole then bolted it up as normal
left the electric connection plugged in but i cut the vacuum line going to it
my CEL is on and i dont want it to be
so any suggestions? should i just remove it? all it improved was throttle response barely

If you want the CEL to turn off, replace the vacuum line. The cel is telling you that the EGR valve didn't "lift" when it was supposed to. The vacuum line is what actually does the "lift".

plug it back in. but keep it blocked off. it would be functional but will still be sensed as if it was still working.

Then you did something wrong or you have a bad EGR component. I doubt that taking out the block off plate will kill the CEL, but I've been wrong before.

Are you running a stock ecu? If so it will throw a CEL because the ECU is looking for it and not finding it.

Did you reset the ecu after you connected the vacuum hose back up? If you didn't, then the cel your seeing, is stored in ecu's memory from when you unhooked the vacuum line.

Remove the back-up fuse for 30-60 seconds or disconnect the battery (-) terminal for 30-60 seconds.

Note: If you still have the factory radio, make sure you have the security/activation code before you pull the fuse/disconnect the battery.
