Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

Clutch Specialties is a different brand than LSD tho. We'll see.

If I had money to spend, I'd buy a 1MS from bisi.

      +1.

Like i said before, proper break in essential for any clutch, be it XTD or Fidanza.

This is my experience with my XTD Stage 1.
I think between 15k and 20k my clutch started chattering some. Now at like 30k it chatters more often. It also does funny things when in some serious traffic. Last month I sat in traffic in Atlanta for like 30 minutes. At the end the clutch stopped gripping. I had to stop and let it cool.
I will give it a max life of 10k more.
Hopefully I will have the H23/VTEC ready by then.

ive had no problems with my XTD clutch at all.

ive installed a number of them on other peoples cars, and i dont remember hearing much of a complain from anybody. most ive noticed is a slight chatter that developed a while later, but not really any slipping...

XTD also sells very affordable lightened flywheels... which are CLEARLY not oem... so what are they? they appear well built, and ive heard great things about them...

...idk... possibly an isolated incident, possible something that started more recently, where the XTD guy started taking shortcuts to make more profit.

who knows... i mean mine was good, it was the perfect price and its been fine. but i guess next time around this is going to kinda scare me away...

I think next time I have to replace the clutch (if that happens while I still have the car) Im gonna talk to xtd directly and see what they have to say. From what I remember, I dont have any problems with my stage 3 that arent related to a shortened break in thanks to my own impatience.

I have known quite a few ACT that were not broken in at all and have not had any issues. I have absolutely no complaints.

Most of the experience I have had with XTD, was from people who were trying to go cheap, and generally approached their cars that way. I wasn't overly impressed with the quality of them, and some have had minor issues when they shouldn't. Long term it is hard to say, because most of the "tuners" I have dealt with car's didn't run that long.

Also, where is XTD being backed up? Honda-tech?

Took my old engine apart today and snapped a few pictures of my clutch

As you can see, the contact patches are pretty much worn down to the grooves. This is only about....13-15k miles. Most of those miles were highway miles too. The clutch had about 7 track launches(only a few were dropped clutches, the rest were feathered). I didn't ever launch hard on the streets, nothing excessively anyways. It was not used for 90% of 2007 either

I did however, not properly break it in. I took it all the way to redline as soon as the car was running. I didn't dump the clutch tho. My previous clutch(which I will assume was OEM or OEM replacement) looked a lot better than this.
