Please DO NOT Post In The General Section

From this point on until otherwise briefed, posting in the general section of Performance Tech is prohibited. The only thing to remain here will be the stickies. We would just delete this section, but that would cause unintended results.

The majority of the threads created can appropriately be placed in one of the Performance Tech sub-forums or Technical; and the posting of them here is detrimental to the activity of said forums. If you have any questions about where you need to place your thread PM me or one of the other mods.

For the most part you all have caught on without this post, but there have been a few habitual offenders that forced me to say this.

Everyone will get a couple of warnings from here on out, after that I just start deleting threads.

Again if you have any questions, PM me or one of the other mods.

And the nail in the coffin...

You guys are attemting to raise the deck around .100

You ever put any thought into the fact that your going to need a custom set of head studs?

Yeah, forged F22 pistons are going to be alot cheaper atthis point, cheaper and with out the ghettoness...

Oh, and how about the timing belt... +.100 deck = stock timing belt no worky...

Go ahead, write my name on the valve cover

yeah.. what about the timing belt... ever try to put a timing belt on something with a 0.060hg.. much less a damn 0.150 hg

Its not a debate really... its a really bad idea, Im just pointing out why its a bad idea...

thanks. from now on we'll try not to think of new ideas.

                  $150 forthe pistons
                  $100 for the gasket
$20 x 4 to rebush the rods to accep the the smaller pin
                  $75-$250 for a H22 crank

Its a copper gasket so add the cost of O-ringing the block -$75-$100

All to ghetto rig a piston that was designed for use in another motor, another combustion chamber, another valve angle/depth...

Forged F22 pistons dont seem like a good idea after all that?
Forged pistons are like 500 bux, no one is arguing that these will be as good as a forged piston. They will not. We're just exploring the options on a cheap piston idea that won't break as easy as the OEM honda pieces.

also, the cost of the crank can't really be factored into the piston cost, because it's an improvement in and of itself, same goes for the rods. the 2G DSM pistons (8.5:1 in stock motor) have a 22mm pressed wrist pin, same as the honda, Shadetree had to have his machined because they were 1g pistons which have use a 21mm wrist pin

2g DSM pistons can be had for 100
                  Hussey HG 120

                  i didn't a copper HG require o-ringing, so then add 75-100,

IF the valve angle issue works out the advantage over forged pistons will be
                  -a cheaper price,
                  -and a better r/s (1.572 vs 1.489)

I'm thinking the valve angle issue won't be a problem with the amount of clearance we'll have, also b/c this is a dished piston
                  H.S.A.E.

90 CRX Si - gutted, caged, Bisi F2d kit, close ratio LSD trans, F22A6 - under construction

99 civic LX - y8 head and trans, lowered, blowing cold AC, and getting 35mpg.

Oh ok, so H22 cranks are free... I didnt know that, damn i wish I would have known about them eb8ing free before I bought 4 of them lat month...

Yeah, lets put a price tag on that since its required to make this not work...

                    H22 crank = $150
                    Gasket = $120
Custom length ARP head studs = $100
                    O-ring the block = $100
                    4g pistons = $100
                    new longer timing belt $40

                    $610

Forged F22 pistons can be found for $400-$500

So, you wantto pay more to ghetto rig some shit that wont even work, wasnt ment to work with your motor... for what?

lets give you the benefit of the doubt and say your .125 gasket only crushes .025, now you only have .002 deck clearance...

You ever though about the fact that the top ring may be close to or maybe even out of the deck at .098 out?

                    Bad idea x 400

Forged h22 pistons for less = good idea

the only good things about an h22 is its rod stroke ratio, and 2 cams. they also have higher compression.

A much much bette flowing cylinder head, 35mm intake valves, dual valve springs, primary and secondary lobes (great for gas mileage and all out performance), a better flowing IM, larger TB, higher compression, larger bore, longer rod, better crank (large, full counterwights, Ideal for performance), bearing clearances are more ideal for performance, higher volume oil pump, oil squirters to cool the factory cast pistons...

I could go on, but I think you get the point...
