    Engine Harness BS

everywhere I read before swapping said the h22a would swap into any 90-93 accord direct plug-and-play, but I CALL BULLSHIT! my 91 accord sedan has two different plugs on the wiring harness with different numbers of wires than the h22a harness plugs. here are the passenger side plugs and here are the driver side plugs
One forum i searched said to swap the f22 wiring harness onto the h22a, but won't the different number of wires in the h22 harness compared to the f22 harness leave out some sensors? Another forum i searched said "Instead of changing the harness to fit the distributor and coil, change the distributor and coil to fit the harness"

also, this sedan apparently has a tps sensor in the engine harness instead of hanging from near the firewall on the vehicle side....wtf
has anyone swapped into a 90-91 cb7 and encountered this? please share how you worked around this.

Read the swap sticky. All the info you need is there. Use your f22 harness and pull parts from the h22 harness that you need. Example, Knock sensor, vtec solenoid switch, presure switch, and if you dont have a f22a6 you will also need the butterfly intake manifold switch. If you dont want to pull those from the h22 wire harness you can order a h22 vtec wiring harness from rywire for around 50 bucks, but you have everything you need as long as the wiring harnesses are complete. The sticky even shows you where to plug in the wires on the ECU.

You are right, it isn't plug and play.
Obviously you didn't read this thread - http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=126672

Have a read of that, and then you should understand what you need to do.

Dont feel bad, I read the stickies a hundred times before the swap and never really got that you had to take the wiring harness off the F22 and put it on the H22. I put the new motor in my car and was like WTF, not all the plugs match up.
Afterwards I went back and re-read the stickies and saw where I had misunderstood what I was supose to do. Replacing the harness with the motor in the car was a real pain in the butt.

I thought Rywire was more like $650? http://www.rywire.com/catalog/milspe...ness-p-39.html

I read the swap stickies religiously I promise you. I know I got to wire the knock, pressure switch, solenoid and iab's for vtec and which pins they go into... my concern is the tps sensor has nothing to plug into on the new vehicle with the h22...theres simply no plug, and I guess for the 90-91's Honda ran it from the engine harness, then in 92 they moved it to right near the vacuum box...really concerned how to wire the tps...also the blue/green and blue/yellow wires on the h22 have me confused...how do I connect the tdc sensor? do I just pin them into the ecu like the rest? sorry for the hassle, Im going for the wiring diagrams again right now.

I also want to point out this is not my first h22 swap...I got lucky with my coupe as it happened to be a 93 and only needed the 3 wires for vtec routed to the ecu.

did the OBD1 H swap on a LX, using the CB harness it was plug and play minus the knock and vtec plugs. if swapping a few little plugs is your biggest issue, you will live =P

Rywire sells just the vtec wiring harness for about $50.

had some nice weather today, so spent a couple hours in the yard swapping the harnesses, and even with the engine in, it was fairly painless. Got the H22 harnessed up and didnt need to extend too much surprisingly.

heres my favorite pic of the projects so far...

and of course we gotta g shit up for parts runs...

im guessing everywhere you read didnt include things that told you how to wire the engine. cb harness. add 4 wires. thats about as plug and play as youre going to get for swapping in an engine that never came in the chassis. i think the only people that have it easier are people that are used to big carbd v8s. maybe that boat of yours spoiled you

actually, I read those parts man, and was not at all concerned with the big 4 aside from the iab's since its an lx...as well as the TDC sensor on the distributor...(keep in mind this was already swapped into a cb9, we're just swapping it into a lx sedan) already resolved the main harness connectors and swapped the harnesses...thanks though
