torque steer? I never had it in my other honda...and it never was that evident like this. It basically turns 20 degrees to the right.

But everyone is saying that the sensor tells the computer, but the sensor only detects the signal, and doesnt use that signal to modify the speed of the axle, so what do you mean?

    thanks for helping me out

I might've missed it, how did you almost crash?

You should definitely pull the code. I'm guessing an ABS sensor, maybe some other ABSey things as well.
I had symptoms similar to yours. I've replaced all but one sensor.

Fix the issue with the ABS code first.
Most likely culprit is what has already been said - Pulser ring damage or incorrect, or a damaged/faulty sensor.

The sensor picks up the pulses, and sends that signal to the ABS computer.
The computer then calculates the speed difference between each wheel, to determine which wheel is slipping.

Count the steps on the pulser rings each side (front only) (even 1 step difference can make a big difference) If they have changed the axles with aftermarket ones then it is very possible that the ABS ring could be wrong.

I was driving 75mph. Hit the brakes hard cause someone cut me off. It turned very fast and hard shifted one lane almost in a ditch.

I will count those. I put a sensor from the yard...no change. It was free lol

So they wanted to charge me a diagnosis fee and i refused. I knew it was the axle. They replaced it and no more ABS light and no more crazy pull. I knew it was the axle hah.

I told them that it never happens until they replaced the axle and they didn't believe it. I also saw it was a used axle they put in replacing a new one. So i made them put a new one in.

IM happy. Didn't yell really. Just said it in a firm but correct voice

Damn. Its leaking transmission fluid again from the center of the axle seal. When they put the second axle it went away and there was a brake pull. Now this third axle has no pull but its leaking.

              Now IM mad again.

Should i take it back? Or try and replace axle seal? Dealer has it in stock...13 bucks.IM kinda tired of them.

They rebuilt this tranny and IM assuming they put new seals. However IM not sure if the old one leaked because i just purchased it.

yes, because a pulsing ABS braking efffect is not as efficient at braking as a (nonsliding wheel) conventional braking effect. If it's pulsing hard on the left, but not at all on the right, then, given left and right wheels that are actually not locked up at any point, the right will be exerting much more braking force than the left....hence the rightward pull.

This is basically why I hate having other people work on my car.

You just have to act like an unsatisfied consumer. Something I'm not good at-I usually just give up and deal with it myself.

But for an expensive job like this--I would get myself some insurance by taking the car to the dealership and having them diagnose (ONLY diagnose) the problem.

Then tell the orignal shop you have a diagnosis from the dealership, that you went there because, as you can understand, you are unhappy with the progress of the repair. This demonstrates both the degree of your displeasure and your willingness to follow up on it.

Ask them what should I do, should you guys make one final attempt on this or should I have you pay Honda to do the final repair of the leak and the ABS system. A

If they say that that's not a possibility, tell them it is because, although you understand "stuff happens", they have messed up this job 3 times already, it's hazardous (and unprofessional), and the car needs to be fixed and safe and not leaking fluids. "One option is that I can bring it to Honda today and we'll settle up in small claims court. It'll be a lot simpler and cheaper for both of us in time and money if we just skip the court part and you agree to pay Honda.

they should have money put aside for their fuckups--as unfortunately such are inevitable in this kind of business.

Those are some of my thoughts.

(did they even use an ABS axle for both sides?).

That's the tack I would take. Not being experienced in these matters. Maybe someone who works for a dealership or car shop can weigh in on how these things are usually settled, but I think that's probably the way to go.

the sensor detects the signal, the ABS computer compares that signal to those of the other wheels, and if the signals are out of whack then it interprets the slower signal as a locked up wheel. The ABS then automatically pulses the "locked up" wheel's brake. So yeah, this does modify the speed of the axle through braking.

Bottom liine is, the car is acting weird since you took it to these people and the way it is acting weird is dangerous.

You need to take this car to the dealership (the final authority, especially if you get in a dispute with this hsop), tell them what's going on, and pay for a diagnosis from them.

                      Then take it from there.

They only replaced the drivers axle. I dont want to go to a dealership and go back and forth. TodaY, I took it back and talked to them. I said since they changed the axle its great and no issues, and im thankfull...but now its leaking. I couldnt imagine it was a defective axle, but im thinking a defective seal. He said it was replaced before, So against my better judgement I went and bought a new one from honda and gave it to them.

I understand what you are saying, I been in customer service retail for years and I know how to deal with things. Its also a plus I know quite a bit about cars to determine if im right or wrong within reason.

However since they havent charged me for any diagnosis or anything for replacing im not going to take it to another shop to diagnose it. If there was an issue I would take it with the BAR. But they would have to really piss me off for that.

We will see tomorrow how it goes.

If you can get this resolved for the price of a new seal from Honda and a conversation with these guys, I'd consider that an excellent resolution!

Did they even put a axle with a tone ring I would wonder and if there was a tone ring was it centered because they can get pushed around. Its hard but it could happen. I would also want to know if they used a rebuild axle and when it was rebuild if the tone ring was not put on right.Oh well its working now. I wound replace the seal myself because they dont know what the fuck they are doing. Plus a axle seal is easy. 45 minutes if you know what you are doing.

I agree with evil_demon and Tippey when I read this thread just now. By logical deduction I could tell it was the axle shaft and the tone ring was different or damage causing your issue. Glad you have it fixed. Your pulling issue just verifies your ABS system is working as it should, you just needed to understand what it was doing and how it works. In newer vehicles, this would trip out your traction control system as well.

Thanks everyone for the input and clarification of the system. I always thought ABS was braes only. Now i know. The shop swore it wasn't the issue but was blown away when it went away after the axle change.

So far so good. I didn't get a chance to count the tone ring though.
