    Speed sensitive power steering

    How exactly does this work?
AFAIK, the steering wheel is connected to the rack via immovable gears. Immovable = non adjustable.
If they're fixed gears, how does the assist vary with speed?
    MRT
37.5 MPG, AC on, cruising at 80.
30.0 MPG, AC on, aggressively driving around 90.
27.5 MPG, no AC, cruising at 90 with occasional gridlock. 40 degrees Fahrenheit

Lots of DIY videos specifically for our car

Get some awesome wipers! <-- It's a DIY

I think the hydraulic pressure is moderated to assist in different vehicle speed.

That makes a lot more sense. I had originally thought it somehow varied the gears. Ie, a quarter turn at 5 would be different than a quarter turn at 50.

I think it was from a movie or a tv show, long time ago.
            Anyways, what do I know?
English is not my first tongue. At the same time, I'm losing my first one, being here in the US a long time.
Now, then, what am I speaking?

The power steering speed sensor (the VSS is mounted on top of the power steering speed sensor) is actually a gerotor pump. The power steering speed sensor works with the gain control valve and pressure control valve to reduce the pressure to the reaction plungers as vehicle speed increases, reducing the assist to the steering rack piston.
