CEL Coming On When On Highway

Alright, so I'm rarely on the highway, only for a few kilometers every few days for work. When I'm on the highway and my RPMs are over 2,500 for a couple minutes, the CEL will come on and stay on until I turn the car off. After I turn the car off and turn it back on, the CEL will be gone.

    What's your take on this??

Tell us the code and we can give you information, it's give and take my man... You give us info and take our advice that you asked for.

Sorry guys, I figured it would've been an easily diagnosed problem without the code. I'll take it for a run on the highway either tonight or tomorrow and pull the code when it comes on.

I'm assuming the ECU will store the code after I turn the car off, since when I turn it back on it's always gone.

Yes, it will store it. You can pull it now without tripping it again, if you keep getting the code it will repeat the same code more when you pull them.

Honda made the CEL to diagnose hard to diagnose things, also you don't describe any conditions or things that might have caused the code so we can take a guess and just pick a random code I guess...

Here I go with a guess ... EGR code or O2 code...

OK, so I went and pulled the code just now before I go to school. I got Code 43 over and over, so at least that's the only one. If memory serves me correctly, that's the O2 sensor code.

Kinda strange though, as I thought if the O2 sensor was bad, the code would be on at all times, not just when the engine was going at high speeds for any length of time.

That means the o2 is lazy if it is only throwing a code. Get under the car and give it a good lecture on why it should do its job.

Really though. Go pick up a nice denso o2 and a can of PB blaster and replace it. my denso only ran me 30 bones. I also made a DIY in the diy section

LOL true. It is pretty weird considering I didn't even mention I was getting bad gas mileage.

I have an O2 sensor lying around I bought for my previous(x2) Accord. It's been sitting in a ziploc bag for a few years now. I wonder if it's still good....
