    Trans will not lock up

Ok so i have pulled the solenoids and cleaned the filters and did the click test. all was fine there. it will still not lock up when it is supposed to. I get on the freeway and cruise at 70 mph and it will lock eventually when it wants to. so far the temp does not make a difference. today at 70 mph i shifted to N let it idle for a sec then went to D4 and it locked up for the remainder of my drive home. i don't have the proper gauge for the car so i have no S light.

    any thoughts?

Did you clean both sets of solenoids? You can use a test light on the harness to get the codes as well.

So you cleaned all 4 solenoids, did you find any material on the screens? Do you need the pinout on the TCU so you can put a test light on the D4 output to read codes?

Without pulling codes my initial guess is a sensor problem.

What gauge are you talking about?

Here is the TCU diagnosis guide:

Personally I would check the NC speed sensor first, then the NM and VSS... But sounds like the NC to me.

This. NM and NC are within view of the passenger side axle. They should measure some amount of resistance I can't think of right now. In my case, the one right above the axle had a wire split, so it wasn't reading any resistance.

What do you mean by it won't lock up like it's supposed to? I was having an issue with mine where the auto trans would randomly slam into first, and it turned out to be a cable bracket that was broken. Could be completely off, but it might be of some help haha

Mine locks up when i hit hit the gas a bit hard. If i barely have my foot on the gas it disengages. Most of the time when im using cruise control it locks up. I would think that when im barely on the gas it should lock up but it locks up when i actually get on it a bit. It's backwards.

                  Any ideas ?

I don't trust some of your guys analysis of it not locking up

Give us some RPMs and speeds

Like at 70 mph with the torque converter locked up you should be at 3000rpm

Tippey764, his problem is consistent with a bad sensor based on his description.

Symptoms of a faulty NM speed sensor: Located at the end (passenger side) of the transmission on some models, check for code 15 or transmission jerks hard when shifting. Symptoms of a faulty NC speed sensor is the lock-up clutch does not engage. The NM or NC speed sensor (code 9) should be within 400-600 Ohms at 20-degrees C. If they are not within spec replace them. If they are within spec check for a possible short to ground but first unplug the harnesses at the TCU.
So I would start there. Has nothing to do with him trusting our recommendations, but he should atleast evaluate them.

3200 or so at 70 not locked up.

it locks when it wants to

there was no gunk on the screens and nono in the solinoids. i did hit the screen with brakecleaner just to be sure and sprayed out the solinoids as well. i did the click test where i ground out the body and hook both connections to the pos of the battery. both clicked fine and strong
