    Fuel Filter - HELP !!

    Dear Tuners,

After reading the DIY, I decided to change my fuel filter for performance and mileage, I've bought it from the previous owner in 2011 and this is my first fuel filter change .... followed the DIY ... but hell !! I am more than convinced that the previous owner hasn't changed that filter since she first bought it in 1994.

the DAMN 17mm wouldn't MOVE !!! the Bracket holding the filter is weak and it TWISTED !! so it means I have enough muscle ... I removed the bracket now to re-straighten it to try again ... I NEED help !! is there any technique to remove it in this kind of situation, even that 14mm bolt seems like an SOB too ... it has rust on it !!

Hit it with wd-40 and let it soak for a minute.

done that before starting my first try ... anyway I solved the problem .. but not without casualties ... it seems the filter hasn't been changed in
a long long time the 14mm bolt had rust and the bracket is weak... also I noticed that the old filter wasn't installed right which made that 17mm a PITA.

Anyway, what happened, is that I removed the 17mm bolt on the fuel rail, when trying to remove the 14mm bolt on the filter .. the feed pipe cracked !!!

I went to a machine shop and they machined me a brass pipe as a replacement and connected both parts with a fuel hose and screw clamps ....

then I put the old filter and held it strong in a vise and was able to crack loose the 17mm bolt on the bench.

installed everything back ... had a leak from the 17mm and the car was bogging ... it seems it was the washers ,,, those a real SOBs !!!

I switched the washers from the filter and the the fuel rail .. and now no leaks !! ... My first fuel filter change !!! something that usually takes 20 minutes, for me was a wild adventure

Those washers are crush washers and you generally replace them every time you service the banjo bolts.

glad to hear I am not the only one I usually get scolded by Oyajicool for doing stupid things.

Some members here half left do to him. So don't let it bother you.

I'm glad to hear you got it changed! When I dumped the fuel out of the old fuel filter I replaced not long ago it looked like water from a mud puddle.

agree, I actually emptied the dirty fuel and used it to clean some bolts ... weird
well for me I can handle some scolding but I must admit he nails a lot of my problems but I always go the long way and I end up with his suggestions being right.

well DJ Ender on the other hand is the opposite of OyajiCool ... he has a lot of patience .. I mean a lot since I'm foreign and not native English speaker.... but GOD .. I learned so much from CB7tuner.com .... the difference is that when you are behind the wheel and know how things in your ride are working .. you can drive comfortably as opposed to someone who knows only how to drive.

Also you can learn a lot from burning your engine ... I burned one

A agree, the piece of mind after doing something right, taking your time on it and knowing a little bit about your car is very nice!

Anyways, your English is very good and your very easy to understand. Some Americans I have talked to on online forums are extremely hard to understand. You on the other hand, English is not your native language, and I would have never guessed you were not an American. That really leaves no excuse to the Americans other than being lazy.

I have been staying away from your threads since you had shown some disrespect after I had tried to help you on numerous threads.
On one of your threads, you had disrespected members who had answered your question already, by calling out for my opinion as well.
This is the second time you mention my name, out of blue.

I guess you really miss me. lol.

I think I know who you are talking about. On one of threads, this guy was contradicting himself, maybe he didn't remember what he had said earlier. I pointed that out to him. Possibly he didn't like that.
Also, he was posting something that is not consistent to what said on Honda Service Manual. I pointed that out as well and, possibly, he didn't like that.

Not just one person but three. Two are gone and one don't hardly post anymore. And a lot of people miss the one that you are talking about.

My post you quoted was not directed at you, it was for the OP. He shouldn't jump ship like the others have due to one person. I feel some of the effects of them leaving because now there is no one in my area. That was the only two and now they don't really want anything to do with CB7tuner or its members directly. And that sucks for me. That does not have anything to do with you, just people getting upset.

Wait a min... I know your car. I seen it in FL about a month ago. At the air port, Palm beach county. I grew up in Lake Worth wow its a small world!

According to his PM to me, it seems like he had something similar thing happened with other member that prompted him staying away of this forum for a while once already. When he came back, he met with my posts and decided to leave, once again.

I never chased any one away or told to be off the site. Any one can decide to leave or stay on this forum on their own accord. If they need, they can use me as a reason. I don't care. I have been blamed on many things in my life already, just one more doesn't bother me.

IMHO, they left here because they cannot shoot BS any more. Because of me,,,????? I guess.

And yeah, I'm in KLNA. You can visit me if you want.

I know we are straying off topic here but as I said I grew up in Lake Worth FL. My mother died June 6th so I had to go back and make arrangements. A friend of mine is a pilot and we decided to take his fathers Cardinal down there. We didn't want to fly into PBI so we landed at Palm Beach county.

And while I was walking and talking on my phone finding my way around I remember seeing your car! I think the name of the Hanger near by with things going on in it was Aim High or Far Aim or something like that.

Anyways, If I'm ever down there again I'll let you know. I don't have but my brother there now but you never know what the future holds.

Anyways. Its a small world! I'll quit thread jacking now.
