what the heck is "cranked"?? while the engine is running?

just to be safe, take a plastic bag and cover the fuse box, dizzy, and alt.

always gota smart one outa da group. this is the reason the engine is going to be 'running' (whats the difference). but ill let you do what it do. thats the dealerships process of cleaning engines.

o yea forgot about the cold weather factor, maybe 30 mins of soaking time and you may need more than one application.

(ALSO DO NOT TRY THIS WITH CARB'D ENGINES, I REPEAT DO NOT TRY THIS WITH CARB'D ENGINES. You definitely have to go through the process of covering everything because of the breather)

i still dont know eaxctly what you mean by "engine cranked"? Do you mean to start the car or just turn the key on "on"? Some insight will be appreciated because my engine bay is hella dirrrttyyy!!

i may be wrong here, but it has to do w/ the header and such...if you turn the car on as in crank the engine and let it sit at idle, it heats up enough to "bake" the cleaner and such in. i think the reason you don't do this when your car is hot is because metal expands when it gets hot and shrinks when cold....if you hit a hot header with cold water, it could possible crack. you may have knew this, but just trying to clarify.

Just follow the instructions up there... keep it "cranked"

As far as what to do, the part that I would skip is the Armor All/shiny stuff spraying everything. Yeah, it'll look good for a show car, but a DD, that stupid crap will just attract dirt. If you are willing to clean the bay religiously, then use armor all, if not, skip it. If you use a little on hoses and the like, that'll work fine, but just dont spray it everywhere.

voila and there you have it kids ultimate understanding. make sure the car remains on/cranked/running when you apply the degreaser so that it softens/breaks down the grease. and yea the armor all is optional only do this if you will clean your engine on the regular.

PS the more you clean your engine the easier and better it will continue to look and last

You still need to be careful around electronics... electricity and water dont mix(fusebox, main harness connectors, distributor, and alternator should not be hosed down directly.) Usually a little water wont hurt, but dont make a habit of it since electronic problems are the worst.
