    Difference between CB7 and CB9

Hi everyone. I am wondering if anyone knows a good post or place to find information on the differences between coupes/sedans and the wagons. I have a 91 wagon and am getting ready to order a lot of suspension parts and want to make sure everything I get is compatible with my car, and really just got thinking in general about the small differences. I remember reading somewhere that the hoods are different? I may be mis-remembering but those are the sorts of things I would like to find out.

    Thanks,
    John

A good place to compare Honda parts is www.hondaautomotiveparts.com

Once you select a part number, it will show you the vehicle fitment so you can see if it unique to the wagon or not.

I'm sure there is a thread on here with the differences, just takes a little searching. (found the one I was thinking of: Facts about the wagon... - CB7Tuner Forums)

    Some more noticeable differences:
    - Front bumper is a little larger
    - Rear bumper is obviously different
    - Front lights, grille, hood, fenders are common to coupe and sedan
    - Front doors are the same as sedan
    - Rear doors have a slight difference (forget what specifically) from the sedan rear doors
    - Rear sheet metal is obviously different
    - Rear tail lights are unique to the wagon (and common from 91-93)
    - Front brakes are larger than coupe/sedan
    - All wagons came with 15" wheels (LX with steel, EX with aluminum), including a full size spare
    - Split rear seat (different than sedan, which is different than coupe)
    - Rear control arms are cast vs. stamped on the coupe/sedan
    - Driver air bag started in 91 vs. 92 for coupe/sedan
    - I suspect the rear springs and possibly front springs are different than coupe/sedan because of the additional weight

Do you have a CB7 or a CB9? (VIN should tell you too)

I have a 91 ex CB9, and thank you so much Fleetwood that is exactly what I was looking for. I appreciate the help.

The rear spindles seem to be larger than the sedan at least on the disc brake models. I tried replacing the rear wheel hubs a few years ago and the ID on the new bearings was too small. You can get away with factory replacement sedan springs in the rear. But beware that the aftermarket performance or drop springs will sag quite a bit on the wagon. I suspect the aftermarkets are optimized for use on the coupe. Those are the only other things I found to be different between my sedan and wagon.
