Turn Signals Not Working (But Hazards do)

Alright, so the search function on the boards have gone hay wire, so maybe someone knows the answer off by heart.

My project car (see other threads by myself), is almost up and running, but I am having a little bit of an issue.

The turn signals don't work (they dont come on, or flash), but the hazards DO. I have done so far:

    Changed Hazard Switches
    Changed Relays
    Changed Turn Switch

So far, nothing. I tested for Continuity between the hazard switch and the hazard relay (Green Red), and Turn Switch and Haz/Turn Relay (Green Red), and it is there... but there is no power on that line (I don't know if there is suppost to be). I've tried adding the power also, and it clearly works (the switch, and the lights coming on, not flashing).

The Green/Red (Haz-Relay) CLEARLY comes into the switch, and then when you put direction, it completes the circuit, but there is nothing coming IN on Green/Red to connect the circuit WITH... No power, no ground, its only connected to the same wire that the Hazard Switch is on, which is suppost to connect to the relay (which I am assuming it is, since that relay works!).

    Thanks,

    Kev

    have you checked fuses??

thats all i can come up with, obviously your bulbs work.

You said relays are good and all.

    Did you check grounds?

You did have the ignition switch to the on position when you were checking right?

Because hazards always work, and the signals do not come on until the key is in the on position.

No offense, just throwing that out since you did not mention it.

there is a turn signal control module in the under dash fuse box find that and check that. i just had the same problem at my shop a month ago on an 4thgen. if you checked it allready and its working ? i know i had no idea there was one there till that car came to my shop, it took me like 6 hours to figure that out, damn it sucked.

Check the lead that bypasses the hazard switch, which is green red for continuity. I believe your problem lies there and you would just need to run a new bypass wire.

I didn't see the word FLASHER anywhere in the post......

did you replace the turn signal flasher?

I have one for $15 shipped, brand new in box.

              Answers to Questions:

              1) Yes the key was in the on Position.
              2) Replaced every single fuse, twice, just to make sure
              3) Everything is grounded A-Ok.
              4) The "Flasher" is a Relay that goes on/off correct?? It is in the main fuse box that has the nice word "Turn" underneeth it.

Replaced that too, it doesn't work.

When you Press Hazards, the "Flasher" flashes all the lights, but I can't get turn signals to make anything flash, or even come on for that matter. I believe there is suppost to be power coming from the Green/Red Wire, since the "Switch" only seems to operate by connecting the Green/Red to the Left or Right wires (Which, if I apply 12V, they light up constant, not flashing).

Which Lead, and where is it located, that bypasses the hazard switch.

Update... After Pooring through the Mitchel Stuff.... there is an "Intergrated" control box on on the fuse box, which is where all the Green/Red, and Grn/YEL & Grn/blu (Left and Right lights), seem to go. I have a feeling that it might have something to do with that Modual, as the Hazard Relay hooks up to that also.

Anyone have any ideas on that. Can to be removed / Replaced, or should I just replace the entire fuse box??

Check for continuity on the green red wire that seems to go to nothing. This is the lead that bypasses the hazard flasher and provides power to the turn signal control box.

Done. It is all inter-connected at the fuse box, so the wires match up somewhere.

I believe the problem might be the Interconnector box on the Fuse Box. The Green/Red goes into that box also, and there is no where on the fuse diagram that appears to connect the green/red to any type of power source, so I am going to assume that it is inside that box which is where it gets the power from.

To Re-fresh, I've replaced all the relays, all the switches, and tested all the wires... I can do a manual bypass on the switch, by appling 12V to the Green/Yellow or Green/Blue wires, but this does not make the lights "flash".

I am curious to know how the flasher "flashes" also. Is it constantly sending power, and detects a resistance of a bulb, it flashes? Is the Flasher seperate from the turn relay on the fuse box (The nice honda part number said flasher).

I'm at work all day, and I am going to get cracking on the problem once I get home around 6, so I will let the CB7 Experts mingle through this.

Tracing the circuit backwards, we start with GRN/YEL (RT Turn) and GRN/BLU (LT Turn).
                      - From there the leads run into the COMBINATION Switch in the steering column.
                      - Are you getting continuity on the switch? Check GRN/RED here for continuity, as it provides power for the DIRECTIONAL Switch

                      - GRN/RED runs into the DIR/HAZ Relay in the DASH Fuse Block.
                      - From there GRN/Red runs into the Hazard Switch.

Try tracing these leads and see if there is continuity. My guess is still one of the GRN/RED leads, but it mat also be the DIR/HAZ relay.

Mine went out before and when it did, both the hazard lights and turn signal lights stopped working. But you said above that it's in the main fuse box. The actual relay is above the fuses at the driver side kick panel, the middle one I believe. With hazards on you can touch it and you can feel it click, as well as hear it. Same with the turn signals.

Checked these Wires. Both at the Hazard, and the Combination Switch. I did not check for Continuity between the fusebox (Panel with Fuses, and Relays), I did check it between the combination switch and the hazard switch... They are "connected" at the same circuit, and if I apply 12V to that Circuit, the light comes on (Not flashing, Instrument Panel, and the Front and Rear bulbs come on).

                          - Are you getting continuity on the switch? Check GRN/RED here for continuity, as it provides power for the DIRECTIONAL Switch
On the SWITCH, meaning, if I put it to the left, that the GRN/RED and GRN/YEL connectors are "connected", then yes.

The GRN/RED from the Hazard Switch - Directional Switch are connected (I plug one end into each connector, it reads a good circuit... on the circuit diagrams, it shows the circuit connected @ the fuse box, so I assume all that is correct.

Now you say that the GRN/RED provides POWER to the directional switch.
This is what I am interested in. When I Test GRN/RED for 12V (Ign On, Off, Engine Running) against ground, I get absolutely nothing, no reading, on either Directional, or Hazard Switches. I had done some research as to see if maybe the Hazard Switch was where the power came from, but that is not the case, the wires never make a circuit in the switch.

                          - GRN/RED runs into the DIR/HAZ Relay in the DASH Fuse Block.
                          - From there GRN/Red runs into the Hazard Switch.

I'm getting stumped from this point, it is too late for me, and I just went through 2 hours of mitchell writing down pathes.

12V, Battery... to UH F/B, to Haz SW, to Haz Relay, to U/H F/B, to DIR SW, to GRN/BLU or GRN/YEL, to Lamps, to Ground.

Correct? If so, Its the U/D Box that is my problem. I get no voltage on the GRN/RED. The Hazard has to get the power from the WHT/GRN, or YEL/WHT...

                          OMFG.

There is this "Aux" Fuse Holder, which is how the hazard switch gets its power during non-hazard operation... 7.5A Fuse.

I think it is solved, I will know tomorrow.... The Diagram says DIR SIG next to it also... I hate bad eyesight.

Where is the Aux Fuse Holder

in a separated, single fuse holder, clipped to the back edge of the fusebox. to the right of the other fuses. good luck figuring it out, recently i had dealt with an ignition wiring issue that stumped me for a month and a half, and that was working with good electrical knowledge and and the oem repair manual. not fun.

I recently had the exact same problem and it had me stumped until I realized that the under-dash fuse for the turn signals isn't actually on the fuse panel, its clipped behind it like he said. That's all mine was, blown fuse. Once I switched that, they worked fine. Its not hard to reach at all once you realize that its there.
