yes guys both shots were cropped. i mostly took out some of the foreground that was taking away from the image. So far im very happy with the lens and how sharp it is. Next step is to shoot a but during the day and see how it performs.

I assumed they were cropped but don't some wideangles come straight out of cam like that or am I mistaken?

hmmm not that I know of. If they did then the sensor would have to be in a funky wide size like that. Its very common to crop wide angle scenic shots because the lens covers so much area sometimes cropping is necessary to remove excessive foreground or another area that there is just to much of and its not helping the image.

            Ah. Interesting. Well good stuff.

You picked up the 17-70mm right? So those are just at 17mm and it has the cool of a perspective? The 18-55mm I have does NOT look like that at 18mm.

No, I think you might have misread something :-) I do own a Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 not 70mm, 70 doesn't exist. Its a fantastic lens, but I did not use it for those shots. The lens I used for those shots was my new Tokina 12-24mm f4 wide angle, as I noted right above my shots. 17mm is wide enough for nice indoor shots of ppl and etc and good enough for landscapes but it won't cover as much ground and give you that perspective you mentioned as a dedicated wide angle lens will.

Try focusing before you shoot next time.

                            Nice. I love seattle too.

Agree with comments above. Poor lighting. Out of focus. Boring subject.
