anyone try these out recently? im in the market for 2 kits and this is probably the lest expensive course. i only need one full kit and one replacement ballast and bulbs. All that could run me more than these 2 FULL kits even from ebay.

but i don't want to throw $80 at these and have a problem

The clear glass lens really? I wouldn't think it would cause glare.

true...which is why until I can do it properly retrofit with projectors, I'm only using HID's for the highs.

All cars makes are different and I'm sure the cb can handle it, but for 20.00 more dollars I was guaranteed that my stock harness won't burn up. Oh, and I've been running DDM ballasts for two years now no problems.
I flicker mine on and off like strobes when I pull into the driveway the dogs freak out HA HA HA

      haven't seen any issues...yet.

Seems to be a lot of opinions no this subject with nothing to back them. I can understand the theory behind it...but I haven't seen any hard facts/science behind the wives tales

It's not the clear glass so much. Has to do more with the reflector design which was designed for the U.S. market to diffuse a certain amount of light in order to allow motorists to read road signs more easily.

Well, I don't know what's theoretical about 25,000 volts or electricity in general, but on HIDplanet there are a couple of people who have had problems with their wiring. One had to have his harness replaced at the dealer and they charged him a little over 1,000 dollars and one had a bmw z4 and an hid kit. He switched back to the halogen bulbs and the harness would not put out the proper voltage to light the halogen bulbs fully.
Also, hot striking hid bulbs, (flipping on and off) greatly reduces the life of the bulbs, that's why cars equipped with HID headlights don't flash the headlights on and off when you lock/unlock them or when the alarm goes off. Also why cars don't have HID high beam bulbs.

I ordered some 55w slim ballast 4,500k for my truck about a year back, I ended up giving them to a friend to put on his civic because people were flashing me with just my regular oem bulbs. about 5 months ago my friend ended up getting 30,000k and gave me mine back so we put them on the truck and they are great! I have had no problems with them whatsoever, I still get flashed but I dont care because my kit has both the low beam and the high beam and my lights are adjusted as low as can be since its lifted... DDM tuning as a company gave me no problems at all and Ive had many friends order kits from them without any issues aswell...

ok I knew that...just making sure it didn't have anything to do with the glass.

I can see the relay burning out faster, not convinced the wires themselves will be damaged though.

as to the hot striking... never meant it was good for them, I imagined it'd wear them down MUCH sooner...I just like freaking the dogs out.

A buddy of mine has 6,000k Xentec kit in his AE101. The cheap plastic lenses create so much glare, there's so much *flaring* that he says it's almost not worth running them.

Sure they look cool looking at them from a distance, but coming at him head-on sucks arse, and he just had them aimed for inspection. My feeling, is if you're going to run HIDizzles, you might as well do it all the proper way. Which is a retrofit ftw.

In addition, most people don't have this issue; but around here if the fuzz are bored they will give you grief for being so bright and unnecessary.

                        life is good.

Be sure to aim your lights or get projectors. I can't stand it when I see cars without projectors or that are not aimed properly rocking HID's. They're blinding from the front and I actually went out and retrofitted an auto dimming mirror into my car because it's such a frequent occurrence around my area.

Other than that DDM is a good company if you're in the states. Otherwise they're pretty shitty.

i dunno fi it was posted here on on the mazda forums but the easiest way to aim your light is to turn the headlights on pointed near a flat wall or garage door. mark the line with tape. after that just start aiming down and your set!

Well, I just jumped on the band wagon. I got the 10K 55w 9006 bulbs. This makes me want to build my car even faster.
