the speed bumps in my neighborhood are my biggest problem if i lower mine. There is no route to avoid them and some of them are huge. there are atleast two guys in the neighborhood that have lowered cars. one of them used to always go across the speed bumps going diagonally going like 1mph. not sure if that helped him at all.1997 Ford Explorer V-6 AT (what a piece of junk)

No speedbumps in my neighborhood or anywhere I drive normally, but when I do have to go over them thats the best way to go. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eo23zTZqTSwOriginally posted by Honda_Lady View Postthe speed bumps in my neighborhood are my biggest problem if i lower mine. Hell, I have a 2" drop and still smack my transmission rolling around town... But on highway it rides great!

My entire town is riddled with potholes so I look like an idiot getting my " swerve" on anywhere I go. Pulling into my dads house is like an act of god because there's a dip between his driveway and the road. Visiting my mother requires meeting her a few miles from her home and riding the rest of the trip in her car

Jersey plates. I think I've seen that car!
IMO, lowering a street car too much is pointless. The road conditions can damage your suspension, and result in your wheels not safely gripping the pavement. You can't clear things like driveways and speed bumps, that were designed with normal car height in mind. If you're doing it for looks, it won't be long before rock chips, sticks, contact lenses... anything in the road that can smack your front bumper/lip, does noticeable damage.
If you want a race car, race it. On the track. If you want a show car, get some non-performance air struts and slam it for shows and meets... raise it when you're actually driving it.

that is my reasoning behind not really wanting to lower my car unless it's a "show" car or a "track" car. the only way i would want to lower it is if i could raise it back up for daily driving. If i put in the work to make my car look good, i don't want to have it get damaged because the car is too low.Originally posted by deevergote View PostIMO, lowering a street car too much is pointless. I prefer driving low and slow rather than high and speeding.
I followed a lowered brand new accord sedan.. he was practically slammed. we drove pretty slow avoiding pot holes and construction road plates - causing a huge line behind us. some guy floored it passed us. Staties on construction duty pulled him over and signaled us to pull over. he came to us first and said " thank you, you actually make my job a bit easier, people seem to drive fast and forget there is workers working on the road, or even me in the middle of the road " and he let us go.. the other guy though, goodluck to him... quoting a sign we stopped next to " fines doubled when in construction zones "
edit : not going to lie though, my heart sinks when I bottom out. or when the middle of my undercarriage scrapes... mudflaps.. meh i don't care about those.
