One of these days I will really read up on getting unfat.
sitting at a desk for 9 hours a day and eating Ellio's pizza daily hasnt hurt me yet. I must be lucky.

for now i am gonna do the starvation thing but im not gonna go overboard with it. im just gonna do it to kill my appetite. i eat like a garbage truck so i need to starve a little so my stomach shrinks a lil bit then i will be eating salads for lunch and cereal bars for breakfast. i know its ass backwards that i should eat a big meal in the morning and a lite snack for dinner but in my moms house if you dont have dinner they take it as an insult. it worked for me before but i screwed it up by taking too many supplements. this time i am only using one. and i am gonna start jogging on my treadmill tonight and once i get used to it i will jog in the morning before i go to work and at night before i go to sleep. i weighed myself on my lunch and i weigh in at 251 so by next week my goal is like 245. i am gonna set small goals but i am gonna aim big and try hard to do this. what got me to really do this is the fact that i went to tie my shoe and had a hard time bending over to do it and i lose my breath when i walk up stairs on walk for a lil while without a break.
          it's been a while but i'm back!!

doctorcipher made a really good post but ill try to add what i can.

stay away from trans-saturated fats. im sure most people already know this, but check the nutrition label on *EVERYTHING* you buy to see how many grams of saturated and trans-saturated fats it contains. when you are reading ingridents "partially hydrogenated oil" or "vegtable shortening" means it contains trans fats. do a google search to see the pletora of health problems linked directly to the intake of trans fats.

quite possibly. but i have no complaints. compared to my friends who go to the gym for months and lose only about 3 lbs, i've lost 8 lbs in 5 days.

hasnt hurt me either yet, 5'10" ~135lbs... for a number of years i was 5'10" at 115...

anyhoo you can trust doctorcipher on this one, i have to listen to his schpiels all the time, and have to wait aroudn for him all the time while he does his morning workout crap lol.

the one thing i do know - just like everything else in the world, theres is NO EASY WAY TO WEIGHT LOSS. starving as well as diet pills and drinks are gimmicks and will only screw your body up more.

He's right, there's absolutely nothing good about trans fatty acids, not one tiny bit. That's why you see a seperate section for them on all the nutritional labels now, right underneath saturated fat. Sometimes the line "Trans Fat" is printed in bold or italics. A law was passed which makes that line mandatory.

                    Killing yourself!

Well coming from a woman you can do it because our weight fluxuates so bad! When i came to college i was a little on the heavy side but i had been playing soccer and had built up the muscle. I gained the freshman 15 or close to that. At Christmas in 2004 i decided I need to change my life around! I went from 174 to what i weight now at 138. It takes a big change. I did weight watchers i still could enjoy certain things just in smaller amounts. It takes work to keep all of the weight off I still have to work at it. Exercise will be come your best friend on your worst days! hang in there you can do it!

no starving, that's the opposite of what your supposed to do. DoctorCipher made a good post. i agree with every part except drinking drinks with artificial sweeteners, those are bad.

just eat sensible, non fried food and no sugary foods. do as many push-up's and sit-up's as you can everyday. your numbers will rise fast on the number you can do. might as well throw in jogging for cardio and more calorie burn.

forget all that diet bull. i mean the slim fast and crap like that. America is the fattest nation and has the most diet remedies. what does that tell you? they don't work. later.

True, but you overlook the important word "if" in that post. Target goal here is weight loss/metabolization of good complex foods and if you're drinking full sugar regular energy drinks, all the refined sugar isn't going to help that.

If I could get energy drinks that contained no sugar AND no artificial sweeteners I'd drink them. I don't care what the fuck it tastes like.

Definitely eat your greens, especially salad. I try to eat a salad at lunch and dinner, and run about 20-30 minutes about 4 days a week. The salad will help clean out your system, and help you maintain a regular bowel movement. You could walk for 45-60 minutes first if you want to start slow. Also, as mentioned by Cipher and the others, weight training is important. Muscle weighs more than fat also so if you're doing a lot of weight training and only losing a pound a week, don't be discouraged, you're probably builiding your muscles. Also, if you do sit-ups/crunches be sure to start with your obliques instead of your midsection. Make sure to stretch some before any workout so you don't strain your muscles easily. Good luck man, you can do it!

thanks for all the support. it is greatly appreciated. i thought i was the only one with weight management on my mind but i found a great group of supporters. i will post my weight up next thursday reguardless of the loss. i want to try to lose about 6lbs a week and i know i can do it. yesterday was my first day and it was hard. fro breakfast i had a cereal bar, for lunch i had a slimfast shake and for dinner i had a lil bit of grilled chicken with an apple and a banana. todays breakfast is a cereal bar, lunch is slimfast and dinner is grilled salmon and steamed vegetables. sound good? starting monday i use the treadmill and start my exercise routine (cant start this week cause my damn basement flooded)
                              it's been a while but i'm back!!

Good luck to you. I was 5'11" 276 lbs. My doctor told me if I kept eating the way I was in about 5-7 years I would probably be dead. My problem was I work to much (did not eat on a schedule) ate fast food for lunch (two dbl Cheeseburgers and fries all bad) and I got off work so late I would eat dinner around 8-10 at night and go to sleep (not good). I'm not lazy but when you eat more than your body uses it goes somewhere. So I stopped eating fast, fried foods and drinking cokes. I dropped 52 pounds in 6 months. The first 30 came easy ( 2 months) the last took awhile. I ate 2 turkey sandwiches with fat free cheese and low calorie bread with chicken noodle soup for a year. I don't like all the protein stuff. I drink cold tea sweeten with splenda and Kool-Aid the same way. If I work late then I eat a bowl of cereal with skim milk when I get home instead of my dinner. Cereal is also what I ate at night if I ate something unhealthy like pizza. After I got down to 224 I started working out. I run 2-5 miles a day and lift weights 3 days a week. I have been the 224 for about 8 months now. My goal is 195. I know everyone is different this is what I did. I don't like protein bars, shakes, and taking pills. But find what you like and stick to it.
