    Ronald_Type-R : 1993 Honda Prelude SR-V

So where do I begin..... I had my CB until Summer of 2010, where the only thing I haven't replaced on the car was the steering rack & pinion, and the fuel pump. One day on the way to work, the rack & pinion decided to go, and forced the car to steer off and kissed the curb. The car was fine, but the Greddy front lip didn't make it out alive At this point, I lost the love for this car. Mind you, at this point I was also driving all the other cars I could possibly imagine on a daily basis(Astons, Porsches, Lambos, Ferraris, Maseratis, Benz, R8s, Bentleys, etc) and i really didn't care much for the CB anymore.

Long story short, I was still trying to fix the CB anyway..That is, until my best friend (catspider from cd5tuner) called me up and told me that his motor bit the dust (timing belt broke). He told me that if I wanted to take care of his car, I can just drop by his house anytime and take it off his hands, as he was done with it. Seeing it as a deal I couldn't pass up, I decided to go ahead with this. I figured: Grab his car, pull the dead H22 out of it, pull the decent H22 out of my CB, swap it in his car and call it a day. His car was pretty much "done", and this way, I could make a bit of money parting out the CB..

So that's when it all started! CB got parted out, a lot of members on here got to enjoy parts off the car, and I was stuck driving a '95 Accord Coupe that even though it's completely tuned and running bolt-ons such as Euro-R IM, 68mm TB, Spoon header, etc., also weighs a good 3000lbs. Not to mention the shitty Tein SS coilovers were bugging the crap out of me (Still are )

So a few months went by, the loyalty of driving all the supercars and the Euro cars in the world have worn off, and I'm starting to get my love back for our beloved Japanese cars. This is when I started to REALLY hate this Accord Coupe. No offense to Accord coupe owners, but I love my Accords when it's a sedan, NOT when it's a coupe! I had plans of rebuilding this Accord on both the suspension and exterior (since catspider rear-ended a Mustang twice when he owned it), but then I figured: If I'm going to build a coupe, why not build a REAL coupe chassis, and not a sedan chassis with 2 less doors..

So my birthday came around in November, and this deal came out on a local forum: Complete running H22A4 motor for $800. The catch: It's still in a car. If you want the motor, come grab the car! So I went to check it out, and there it was: a red '93 Prelude SR-V..Absolutely NO rust anywhere on the car! The owner gave up on the car because 1) He couldn't get it started, and 2) He said the clutch line is "seized".

That was what the car looked like when I came to see it. It had been sitting there for a good 6 months, untouched. But it's in a decent shape, and it's RED! I've always wanted a red car So I offered him $500 for me to take it off his hands and tow it home. Long story short, everything was a done deal, and I got it home to my driveway.

First thing I did: Gave the car a GOOD 2hr wash! I then took apart the main relay, re-soldered everything, put it back together, plugged it in, turn the ignition and the car fired up a few days later, I fixed the "seized" clutch line with nothing but vise grips and a proper 12mm wrench, got a brand new Nissin Clutch MC and slave cylinder, put in some Elf Dot 5.1 brake fluid, bled the clutch line properly, and the car was driveable! Another Birthday present from God

Exterior condition is decent, interior doesn't matter to me, since I will be stripping the whole interior, leaving nothing but the dashboard, door panels, steering wheel, pedal assembly, shifter assembly, center console and the two seats! My goal is to run this car in a local track this summer..Footwork, exterior and interior will be taken care of before summer starts, and I will build my spare H22 for this car next year.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So I'm back! And this car is officially my new project. I call it "Project Red" Here are some more pics of its current state, parts list of what came with the car, and my future build list!

    Nice find bro....

Seeing the CB in the background on jacks is depressing after seeing it in it's glory days.

I can already see greatness coming from this. Nice find man. Probably didn't cost you more than $80 to fix. Haha.

And I see the shell of the old cb in the background in the front of the BB. And if you don't want the cd5 ill take it off your hands. Haha.

x2. It's like it's not even the same car anymore. I guess, technically, it's not but it's still hard to see.

Ronald, I know you'll do great things with is.

Btw, what is the USDM equivalent of the SR-V? This is the first time Ive seen of it.

So awesome that we both went to red preludes! The future plans look excellent as well! I'm sure your build is going to progress much more quickly than mine, as I'm still in college and money comes in only over the summer for me. Nonetheless, they should be two badass ludes when we're done.

Thanks guys..I'll always love the CB, that car had been nothing but good to me! Taught me a lot of things about suspension tuning and engine swaps, and that's something that I'll never forget!

The main purpose of this new project is to build myself a car that will outhandle my CB. I promised myself I will make this happen. I have to! It's the only way I'll ever be able to move on from the CB!

Maury, the other MRT has been updated on the first page with a new pic. I personally think that was the biggest moment for the CB in its life..EVER!

I'm curious about these LED retrofit as well! I've found a few OEM LED taillight candidates that might be a good fit for the Lude taillights. I will keep you updated once I've found the right LED donor! As for the SR-V, I believe it's equivalent to the Prelude Si VTEC in US

It really did cost approximately $80 for me to get the car back on the road! Haha..The previous owner had already replaced the Clutch master cylinder with a new one, but it wasn't a Nissin MC..Me being me, I had to spend $60 just to have the "Nissin" stamp on the clutch MC!

Thanks man! It depends on what parts you're talking about. For headlights, there seem to be quite a few of them floating around on Ebay. Other parts are a little harder to come by, But I've got most of what I need so far. A few JDM parts I'm missing are: OEM window visors, "Prelude" 3rd brake light, and the BB4 VIN tag. But other than those, I've already acquired the rest of the JDM parts And like Larry said, there aren't too many JDM Parts for this chassis that are very distinguished compared to the USDM version, other than the parts mentioned above!

It really is pretty crazy bro! I almost couldn't believe my eyes when I saw you posting pics of a red 3rd gen Lude as your new project! Haha..I can't wait to see how your car turns out! Slowly but surely! Mine is going pretty slow as well. I've been gathering parts, but I barely have time to work on the car! With my full-time job, I am always working..And when I do have some free time to work on the car, it would always rain!

This chassis looks promising so far though..Weighing in at only around 2750lbs from the factory (fully loaded), it's already 250lbs+ lighter than my current DD (The '95 Accord Coupe EX-R), which weighs in at more than 3000lbs! A buddy of mine has the same Lude as mine, full interior with A/C and P/S delete, and he managed to bring the curb weight down to 2,600lbs, and that's with him in the car!

Funny enough, the selling point of this car for me last time is the fact that Progress makes a 27mm rear sway bar for this chassis! Three-wheeling here I come!

Anyway, I will keep you guys updated soon! The car is going on a strict diet, which means I will be pulling out most of the interior! Pics to come soon

Thanks for all the love guys!

Ah that is one clean 4G Lude and for 500 bucks with an H22? Hell of a deal man and like mike said it is sad to see the CB in the back on the "bricks". This makes me want my BB6 back....

                              Keep up the good work!!!
