Cover all electrical devices with plastic bag/garbage bag and your intake filter, I like spraying Simple Green all over, let it sit some, then rinse. Repeat process 1-3 times depending how dirty your motor is, then go in and start cleaning by hand the areas still dirty. Don't be one of those idiots that clean the motor while it's running and spray it down, a school-mate did that and I told him not to, motor died out once he hit the distributor with water (claimed he'd done it before, blah blah blah). I laughed, told him to get paper towels, while I sat in his engine bay and blew out the wire connections at the dizzy, started back up (didn't need the paper towels, just wanted him to leave me alone).

mine was a bitch too...hose it with penetrating fluid and wd and see if that works.

They make a special tool for o2 sensors. I know sometimes when they are on there tight people start to strip them. And thats were the tool comes into play. You ought to look into one.
